We are thinking of extending the stay on the Delta for a few days after the scheduled event. It's a long drive for only 5 days on the water. Any ideas on where to go? Any other boaters interested?
Boy I do, I would love to go back to Alameda and have dinner at that Jazz joint again....Evert and Jones.. what a neat place...(They had great ribs...but don't try the HOT ones...Swannee tried to...but they were too hot even for him....I think I would do a night in Isleton ....there is a neat steak house there and a free city dock ... then explore further up..... I have a book and map of the Delta and will bring it for you...
Kath is the real expert about the Delta...she should know some killer places..
Joel is mostly right on with his ideas. A night at Walnut Grove marina and a dinner at Al the Waps biker bar is always a good idea. For me, I would stay out of Oakland and the jazz bars. Very cool but not so safe.
If it was me I would come back to Rio Vista on Sunday and rest. Then on the next Monday I would head out into the central delta through the Franks Tract area and start exploring. There are a 1,000 miles of waterways and much to see in the central and upper delta area. Our Bay and Delta extravaganza actually spends little time in the real Delta.
I have not signed on this year because I am scheduled for the 9th. IF some are staying longer I would enjoy getting out with you. I usually try to make it to Rio Vista Wed. evening even if I can not go just to say Hi.
Laurie and I will be, hopefully, cruising from our home port of Glen Cove (Vallejo) to Rio Vista Tuesday. Our intent is to dawdle, and be up to Rio Vista Tues late afternoon. My assumption is that there may be anther CBrat or two that may have also arrived early... any of you fellow cruisers on that plan? See ya'll soon!
PS: Working on a Cider and an Ale this year, they will hopefully, be ready for the extravaganza. :beer
Our Delta and Bay Extravaganza is now only a little more than one week away. We are getting excited about the upcoming event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone and to having a fun time.
Kath and I will be launching about 10 AM on Wednesday May 8th and by Noon that day we all will all be heading down river to the Wheeler Island Duck Club!
We have a couple possible plans for Tuesday night. If you see our boat at the marina, that means we are driving up, and will be there by 6 or 7 at the latest, and would love to join everyone for dinner. Plan 'B' involves a late night arrival.
On Sunday, we plan on returning to the marina with the rest of the group, and we will have some free time on Monday, but must be in Martinez by 3 or 4.
Just read thet thread and am interested in going how much does it cost. how long is it for. information needed. are we fishing, crusing, staying the night, food, sleeping arangments? What time do you meet and where? Are there any spots left?
Please read the entire thread. It will answer everthing you asked.
You are kind of late to the party, but if you want to go plrsdr send me a check for the $45 and you are in the event. Meet us at Rio Vista next Wednesday and we depart at high Noon. My telephone number is listed if you want to call me.
Time ot get onboard. We would welcome another vessel.
In addition to Hankster, we have room for one more vessel in San Francisco for Saturday night, May 11th. Please call me if you are interested in coming or just want to come for Saturday night.
As of today there's an "outside chance" that I may be able to go. Still pushing schedules around. Jim, I'll give you a call as soon as I can firm it up.
Sorry for the late notice, but if too late, there's always next year...
