12V Fans and power outlets

Last Thursday (day before NC C-Brats gathering in Oriental) a friend helped direct-wire two 12V oscillating fans to the main fuse block. Since total "draw" was 3A both fans were put on the same 15A fuse.

We also direct-wired two auxiliary 12V power outlets in the cabin's left console to the main fuse block. Each outlet has its own 15A fuse. This weekend was able to run laptop with full screen navigation charts while also charging a MP3 device.

I plan to put a couple of small, non oscillating fans on the overhead of the TC bunk. I will wire them into the overhead cabin light circuit and, since we will use them when sleeping, the light circuit will be on but the lights will be off. Pictures when I get aroundtuit.

I have a single 12V oscillating fan that I bought at an auto parts store for about $10-15. It clamps onto the electronics shelf and plugs into a 12V outlet. Keeps the front window clear quite nicely and doesn't require a permanent installation. I plan on moving it over to the TomCat (or I might buy two new ones for the TC). One advantage is that when the fans fail, they're easy to replace. Also since they clamp on, you can move them around to get airflow into say the berth area if desired. Mine looks like the one at this link.
