16' CD anchor light wanted

A friend on mine just purchased a 16’ CD that did not come with the anchor light staff.

The typical base with cover is there and all he needs is the staff and light.

Anyone have one of these that they would part with or know how and where to specify and order “just the staff and light”?

Please advise.

Ron,
I'm at work I think I have two. The original one was not high enough after the roof top air was installed so the dealer sent me another. If I can root them out they are yours at no charge. I have a new LED model that comes off my radar mount. PM me your address I'll U.P.S. them out to you. If you have too much money then consider a donation to the C-Brats I'm good with these items seeing the light of day again.

Ron- I have a anchor light. It's not original. I bought it when I had a problem with my light. It fit but didn't work. it turned out it was my contacts in the base. I cleaned them and put back the original light. This light should still work.

If you could forward my e-mail address m-white01@comcast.net 703-548-4316 or send me his name, address and phone number, I could send it out UPS by tomorrow. He doesn't have to pay me. Whatever he thinks its worth, he can make a contribution to the C-BRATS webb site.

Let me know.

Ron, I also have a surplus light that you are welcome to.

Look down in the hole and post up if it is a 2 prong or 3 prong, there are plenty of both out there.

A regular one will work if it gets current, but if you end up with a LED one it will be polarity sensitive. If it does not work when you plug it in, you may have to reverse the wires.

I offer this information somewhat tentatively, as I'm not sure whether the 16 uses (or used) the same light as the 22, but, I ordered a new base for the all-around light on my 22 this summer. At the time, I was given the information that C-Dory had used both two-wire and three-wire light bases (Perko has both); I checked mine and it was two-wire (2002 boat). When the new base arrived it looked just the same as the existing one. I got it through Fisheries Supply.

Here is the Perko page; you can find more info under the "tech info" and "spare parts" tabs on the page (for example, the base I ordered was part number "1209DP099A").

http://www.perko.com/catalog/category/navigation_lights_under_20_meters/product/133/

It sounds like you may find a spare light through a member here, but just in case you don't (or in case someone else finds this thread later via search), maybe this information will be helpful (if the 16 uses the same light as the 22...).

Ron,
I located both the original light that came with our 23' Venture which looks to be a three wire 14" high can fold down and a complete Perko light 30" catalog number 1209-DP3-CHR neveer opened the original packaging which the dealer provided for free. They are both free to a good home.

Thank you, Thank you for the offers to help me out and share your spare anchor lights.

I eventually found the anchor light that came with the boat.

Started unloading the front of the 16’ and looked up to the far left and there it was, the anchor light hanging in a couple of snap clips.

I greatly appreciate the offers to help me out.

Best regards,

Ron Fisher

We have a '93 22 ft Cruiser and our anchor light is now resting at the bottom of Resurrection Bay. I happened to be looking at this website to get ideas where to buy a replacement and saw this thread. I'd be more than willing to buy any of the spare anchor lights I see here, we live in Alaska so shipping cost a little more. Any takers?

Hello again from Iowa,

Found the light but still need the little plastic cap that is used on the anchor light base when the light is not installed.

Anyone have an extra one of those protective caps?

Let me know.

My anchor light worked when I received my cd22.
I spent a lot of time at anchor with my sail boat always wondering if I was draining my batteries while I was sleeping. Don't need another worry when you are on the hook.
When I got the CD22 I went to Wall mart and bought a solar patio light like I have had on my driveway for 2 yrs. The cost was less than $5.00. I used stainless hose clamps to attach it to my anchor light stem. Even on a cloudy day it will run all night . It has 360* visibility and I no longer worry about my batteries.
I am not a tree huger but I do run my house on a 5k watt off-grid solar power with a 28Kw battery system for backup.
It just made sense.

Justa couple of:

1. I believe Perko will send you the plastic cap. The did for me when I replaced my anchor light switching from incandescent to LED.

2. The solar light replacement is a good, cheap idea, and as long as nothing ever happens it will probably be fine. Should an accident, resulting in a USCG investigation occur, you may be hard pressed to show yourself in USCG compliance, and thereby possibly heavily liable if your not being visible at 2 miles out, or the ability to be so, is called into question.

If you are using that light, tied to a dock or a mooring ball, it may be fine. If you are depending on ground tackle for positional stability, you might not be so fine.

When I replaced my original Perko light, I found the new LED post and light, even though nearly a foot longer, to be lighter. I like that because it puts less torque on the base.

Until you locate a plastic cap for the light receptacle, I believe one of those caps off of a 1# propane bottle will fit.

I was going to mention that if you looked at the roof of the v-berth that you might find the anchor light, but I see that you already found it. This has happened to others who thought they were "short changed" an anchor light.

Hello Dave S. on "Sea Shift"

Yes, the plastic cap off of a 1# propane bottle fits perfectly.

Thank you for the tip.

Ron Fisher

I had the same problem until I realized in was mounted to the switch panel at the helm. There's a threaded part sticking out for storing the cap, but when the cap is on there it's hard to see and kind of looks like a resettable fuse or something else. Anyway, look around the helm area and see if you can spot it. Of course it might not be there on other models...

That is where I found a place to put mine, when it wasn't up on the base attachment. Took a while to figure that one out though.

Hello again from Iowa

Thank you ferret 30, no, the cap was not there, but now I know what that “what ever it is” is.

I’m with Harvey, it would have taken “a while to figure that one out though”.

Thanks guys.
