16 footer get together

Well, "the little boats that could"...did! It was a fun filled and educational get together. All the speeches, seminars, workshops and breakout sessions went off without a hitch (except the one about "towing"). At the awards banquet this year's "Golden Lugnut" for holding tight while alarms sound went to Pat Anderson. Congratulations Pat. Pat then led the flotilla on the Little Loop, a circumnavigation of Mercer Island. While we were out we spotted the 22 footer Bootleg Hooch fishing and while we were in we were visited by Chromer of the 19 footer Checkpoint II. (Chromer had just completed the Mercer Island 10K run!) Thanks to the crews of Barquinho, Cutty Sark, Crabby Lou and Lizzie for a fine fun-filled C-Brats day.

What a great time! Marty, thanks for putting this mini gathering together. It was great fun seeing all the little 16's at the dock together. And we couldn't have picked a better place to gather, two of my favorite casual restaurants. Thanks for taking us on the little loop Pat & Patty, it was fun although a little choppy.

The weather was your typical spring day in Seattle, it couldn't decide to be sunny or rainy but at least it wasn't too cold or too windy.

It was also great seeing Dwight (Chromer) from Checkpoint II who joined us for lunch. Thanks for the pics Dwight. Plus we saw a couple from Federal Way who just bought a brand new 16. Their boat is getting rigged as we speak but they wanted to come by and say hi. I believe their names were Fabian and Arelly. Sorry if I got the second name wrong, please correct me with a post.

In any case, a great time had by all and I think a new tradition has begun. Those 16's are sure fun!!

Well OK! What a dandy little CBGT! Eat your heart out, Brock! A little drizzle as we left Fall City. Launched at 40th Street, ran down to Coulon, Johnson 40 ran fine, the "no oil" alarm never sounded! Met up with Marty and Dotty and Peter, Sark and family pulled in shortly afterwards. Lunch at Ivar's at Coulon, Carin came over and joined us for lunch, Patty could not shame her into crusing with us, something or other about needing to do some work...so after a fine lunch, Dwight from Checkpoint II took a few pix, and we finally got away for the Minor Circumnavigation - the Lesser Loop - the Little Circle, all the way around Mercer Island! The new Garmin 440S and the Lowrance Expedition both worked fine and dandy! Poked into Andrews Bay for old times sake! On the north side of the Lake Washington Floating Bridge, decided to burn a little carbon out of the ol' Johnson 40. Got 'er up to a bit over 23 knots, 27 miles per hour, water was flat, that is just about as fast as it seems prudent to go in a CD16! Rain held off, it was actually quite nice for our little cruise! Pulled out at 40th Street just before the sky opened up! Back home shortly before 5 p.m. Film at 11!

Great times, good friends, exceptional boats, and typical weather, make for a great little CBGT. Glad you all had a great time. Thanks for the pictures Dwight, Jim will be proud :wink

Definitly a fun time, a big thanks to Marty for getting the ball rolling. We came down from the north end of the lake, overall the weather was decent, a bit of wind and rain, but thats why we have a pilothouse. :smiled Coulon park was a great spot, with nice docks, food right there and a pretty nice looking play area for the kids, we didn't have enough time to completly explore, so we will definitly go back again. We generally spend most of our time up north and it was good to have a reason to come down that way. It was also neat to compare 16's, and what everyone does to make them functional for them.

Not the greatest quality image, shot through the isinglass of the camperback, bouncing around, but still I like it! Patty shot this one! I changed the album to make this one the highlight photo!

I am out here now on Marty's little loop. Went thru the Ramarine AP Autolearn procedure. All systems GO for Anacortes this weekend. Good to know the C-Dancer is moored next to CP2.

Looks like fun. I spend quite a bit of time looking out at the Boeing factory and Coulon area from Mercer Island, but only make it out on the lake in the summer. We keep a boat on the lake in the summer, but I bet it's nice being out in the winter when there isn't much other traffic. It gets awfully busy in June, July, and August!

We spend a lot of time out on the lake in all seasons. As you know, it's a big lake and the changing visual cues from Kenmore down past Kirkland thru the cut all the way to the locks, not to mention the south end, make it ever changing and interesting. Frankly, the only time I avoid the lake is on weekends during the summer and that is not because of lake crowding but rather lack of parking at ramps. You are indeed fortunate to live on Mercer Island, smack in the middle of such a beautiful body of water.

Sure looked like fun, being able to gather as a like kind~ no size envy...did you raft up the boats for libation hour to throw a party? Maybe I can join you sharp looking super clean 16s next year. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
