We have decided to sell our much loved, 22’, 1983 C-Dory Classic.
This 1983, 22’ C-Dory Classic was purchased in February, 2009, found in very “neglected condition”.
After hauling back to Iowa and close evaluation of what we had purchased, we realised that we had a very sound hull, junk interior, a terrific motor and a junk trailer.
The motor is a 1997 Evinrude OceanPro, that did not run. After the motor was professionally evaluated for the “what do we do next decision/s” we were surprised to find that the motor had very good compression and may have had little use.
The motor apparently had not run for some time, probably because the $500/600 ignition module had failed at some time and not been replaced.
This deficiency, we believe, turned out to be a gift, instead of spending the money for this repair, the previous owner chose to park the boat/engine.
We had the engine professionally repaired and serviced and also purposely eliminated the oil injector (we now mix the gas and oil).
The interior was absolute junk, which we completely removed, cleaned, repaired and painted the hulls interior, eventually replaced the complete interior.
Fortunately, I own a small custom furniture manufacturing company (ronfisher.com) and had our top guy custom build a new interior.
Notice that a lift type center window was installed (surprising expensive item).
All electrical (components and wiring) was stripped out and professionally replaced.
Instead of even trying to salvage and/or repair the trailer, a new, twin Aluminium I beam, tandem axle EZ-Loader was purchased.
This is a fantastic quality trailer, also easy to load, unload and pull.
No expense was spared and after at least 2-1/2 full days (sometimes more) per week, 3-1/2 months later, we launched R-Dory.
I/we are reluctantly selling this much loved boat, however it’s time to make our lives more simple.
We also have “Lil Sis” a 1990, 16’ C-Dory which will be enough for a while.
Selling price is $15,500.00 which is much less than invested.
Note: If you absolutely must dicker around about the price, please advise up front and we will start at a much higher price and allow you to beat us down to $15,500.00.
