1989 22 Cruiser w/ Johnson 70

I received a phone call today from a gentleman who is helping an older couple clean up their yard and get some life issues handled.

One of the things in their yard is this boat.

I have not seen the boat, so don't know it's condition. The gentleman on the phone expressed that it was dirty, and hadn't been run in at least 5 years. It also has an early 1990's Nissan 8 horse kicker.

So this boat is for sale. My guess is that the engines are toast, and that the boat will need lots of elbow grease and a repower and electonics. It is sitting on an EZ Loader trailer. While the engines might still run, I expressed that in determining value, I would assume that they don't.

We discussed what the boat might be worth, and without seeing it, it's hard to say, but I felt if it were solid, no rot, and just needing some clean up, the shell and trailer might be worth $10,000.

I am posting this here for him, and he is simply helping these folks and not making any money off of any transaction.

His name is John Klevins, and he can be reached at 206-801-7911.

He said he would be walking through the boat to check for any soft spots in the hull, and would be getting some pictures put together.

Anybody interested in a project? I think price may be flexible. This boat has been owned by these folks for a very long time.

If anyone views the boat, would you post impressions, please?

Matt,

I am interested in more information on this cruiser. If it's just a matter of cleaning and re-power, that's a deal I'm looking for.

Please PM me when you know more.

Thanks,
M&M

I won't be learning any more, as I'm not representing the boat, just trying to help the guy out.

Call John Klevins directly and he'll give you the information he has. He did let me know he has some photos as well.

First off, a big THANKS goes to Matt for doing the right thing! When I called him out of the blue to ask some really basic questions (I am not a knowledgeable boat guy) about selling a C-Dory, he was honest, helpful and directed me to your website. He even placed the posting. Thumbs up for being a good guy.

I am a volunteer for a elder support foundation called LEAF (Legacy of Elder Advancement Foundation) and am trying to assist an aging couple with their finances. I am not going to make any money on this, just wanting to help these good folks to be able to pay their bills.

The 1989 C-Dory, 22' Cruiser is named "Serena" and is sitting in their front yard on an Easy Loader trailer. Given conversations I have been having with folks on this site as well as Matt, beyond basic cleaning and TLC, it will probably need new motors, maybe electronics and an awning. The trailer tires are holding air, but the condition of the wheel bearings and tires for trailering is questionable.

Matt suggested a few tests to see if the hull had any dry wrought, (knocking here and there, walking on the flooring) which I performed, and to the best of my limited knowledge, it doesn't appear that she has suffered that fate. We will make no guarantees, but to the C-Dory enthusiast, this appears to be an opportunity to buy a good foundation to produce a great boat.

Based on Matt's guidance, we have set a price of $10,000 and have had several knowledgable boat owners already calling, showing interest. To eliminate future expectations, this sale will be an "as-is", non-conditioned sale.

For further questions, or to schedule a time to come look her over, give me a call at (206) 801-7911.

Hi Fellow Brats,

I have put a deposit on this boat today 11/14/11 and will be paying it off in full next week when I visit Sensei and family in Seattle.

Very exited! Big plans!

Thanks,
M&M

Congratulations M&M,

I may be a little biased but I've always thought that an '89 was the one to get.
Ever since I bought mine in...er...'89.

I also tip my hat to Matt for facilitating and a shout out to John Klevins for helping the owners find Serena a new home.
