1994 TOLAND 18-8 CRUISER FOR SALE.==>SOLD

This is a rare opportunity to own one of twelve Toland 18-8 cruisers. Designed and built by Ben Toland, one of the founding members and designers of C-Dory, this boat is similar in design and construction to a C-Dory, with additional detail and features. With an overall length of 18'-8", this boat has an enclosed cuddy cabin with v-berth and porta-potti. The main cabin has seating for three with a mini-dinette and galley. The galley has an ice box (under the pilot seat), a sink and a Wallas one-burner cook top/ cabin heater. The main cabin offers the following items: 2 electric windshield wipers, center opening window, numerous storage compartments, electronics shelf, vhf, ds, compass, Alaskan bulkhead with locking door. This is a great couples cruising boat with a forward-facing co-pilot seat. The cabin interior is trimmed in teak, with overhead liner in the main cabin and cuddy. The exterior features a recessed anchor locker, 1" ss rails, raised cockpit floor, aggressive non-skid, and an overall attention to detail not usually seen in boats of this size. Powered by a BF-50 Honda 4-stroke outboard and sitting on a galvanized E-Z Loader Trailer, this boat is set to go. Garaged, in great shape with low hours, this boat is being reluctantly sold by the original owner. Price: $23,500.

Hi Leo
Do you remember meeting me a couple of years back? I was eating at the Tides and saw you heading toward the city dock in Gig Harbor, and made a beeline to see what kind of boat it was. (Looked like a C-Dory but the "wrong" size.) Truly a beautiful craft, and I'm tempted, but I think I'll stick with the big pit of my 22 Angler. I hope that your decision to sell doesn't reflect adverse circumstances.

Funny - the blocking software on my computer didn't let me use the word to describe the open area in the back of the boat, shortening it to "pit".

Leo -

I hope you change your mind. You and your unique boat are too big a part of the Brat crew. Besides, if you don't have a boat to manufacture the stuff, your Propwash business will dry up.

Hi C-Brats,
The sale of this boat has been prompted by the following circumstances:

1. It looks like we will be building a new home this year, so my "spare" time is going to be taken up with "sweat equity".
2. As my two sons get older (and bigger) we are experiencing the "shrinking boat" syndrome. I figure when the house gets complete and we have a chance to catch our breath, we will probably find our way to a used 22' C-Dory.
3. Brock told me that I am still welcome to attend C-Brat events, and I still have my kayak and inflatable, so I am not totally boat-less.
4. I'm not going away from this "virtual yacht club", so you will still get my wit and wisdom regardless of the size of my flotilla.

Thanks for your kind words. The ad hits the Seattle Times and P.I. tomorrow, so I will keep you posted on what happens.
Best Regards, Leo.

Hi C-Brats,
I have had a lot of interest in my boat, but no takers yet. To sweeten the deal, I will throw in 5 gallons of propwash and my collection of back issues of Nor'Westing!
Best Regards, Leo.

Hi C-Brats,
For those of you interested in viewing this boat, it will be on display soon at E.Q. Harbor Service on north Whidbey Island. You can reach Les or Kathy at www.eqmarine.com or call (360) 679-4783.
Best Regards, Leo.

MAN, I can't believe somebody hasn't grabbed up your boat....that is one NICE boat....and with the free propwash...sheesh .......I used to have some pictures of the interior....lemmme see if I can find them when I get home.

I'm just glad Leo is still going to be our playmate. Course, I think it would be nice if he'd don white slacks and a blue blazer for future events.

Hi C-Brats,
I have had a lot of interest from on this boat, with better results from my C-Brat ad than with the Seattle Times. Have recieved calls from as far away as Ellisbille, Mo! Once I take the boat up to EQ, I have a feeling it will move quickly. I discovered my blue blazer and white slacks at the back of my closet. Perhaps it is time to introduce a bit more formality to the C-Brat gatherings.
Best regards, Leo.

Leo. I stuck a picture of the interior of your boat in the B~C album, perhaps somebody with more nerd powers than I can move it up north.

Good, I knew there was a reason I felt compelled to take a bunch of pictures of that boat when we ran into Leo at the Gig gig....that is a very neat boat and a good price, somebody will be real happy....folks, unlike a C-Dory, the interior is all lined and trimed with wood and looks beautimous

Hi Ken,
Thanks for posting the interior photo. I am taking the boat up to EQ Marine tomorrow. Les has done a great job on his web site describing this boat! I am still amazed how Ben Toland was able to design an 18'-8" boat with 6'-2" headroom and create such a graceful profile. I promised my wife that I won't be towing a 22' C-Dory home from EQ after I drop off
my 18-8.
Best Regards, Leo.

SOLD!
My hat is off to Les and Kathy of EQ Marine for the great job they did with marketing and selling my boat. I hope to have an opportunity to work with them again when I am buying instead of selling.
Best Regards, Leo.
