2003 25 ft cruder deck replace ment

If the rot is extensive, the best plan is to pull up the entire cockpit deck. There are a number of core materials. We used Nidacore, it is light, & cannot develop rot. You still need to put thickened epoxy to seal the edges, and where screws go into the deck. Also a good time to check, and perhaps pull and clean--paint the fuel tank.

The new cockpit surface can be one of several materials; we used thickened gel coat, rolled out to give a pattern.

Ron, how extensive was your rot?? I pulled up my entire 25 cockpit last month and only found a tiny amount of rot near the inspection center hatch . We fixed it and resealed the floor.

Don't mistake the "less ridgid" or spongey feel near the center of the floor for rot. I did that! I thought for sure my floor was rotted because it felt a bit spongey when I stepped on it but that wasn't the case. I think its because in the center you have less structural rigidity due to the lack of support underneath. The entire floor rests on the perimeter brackets, so that makes sense.

Just for the record, the 2004 and earlier had a solid floor in the cockpit. Starting with 2005 and later they put a removable section in the cockpit so that you could get at the tank.

Tuna Ron has a 2003. Bob repaired one of the earlier ones, so he has been through that.
