2004 CD 25 Cruiser Question

I'm trying to figure out if my cockpit floor was re done in the past. It is solid but the finish is sort of ugly. Did the factory cockpit floor have the same molded in non-skid pattern as the front and side decks or was it smooth with a finer painted on type of non-skid? Anyone have a pic of a factory stock 2004 era cockpit floor in their pictures? Thanks

My 2003 C Dory 25 had the same pattern yours has. It is basically thickened gel coat rolled on. Some of the newer 25's have the patterned non skid. We redid our floor, and rolled on thickened gel coat to give the same texture.

Thanks Bob, It just looked smoother than any other on the boat. Mine needs some cosmetic refreshing after 10 yrs and there is one spot about 6" dia circle that is over the fuel tank, and not near an edge, that is soft sounding so I'll spot fix that one and then seal edges and refinish so it's pretty again. I assume the cockpit floor is end grain balsa cored from 2004, right?

Yes, the boats are made with end grain balsa in the cockpit floor. In the rebuild we used Nadi core, 3/4"--reduced the weight some, and no rot, plus properly sealed the edges and where screws went.

The 2005 C-Dory 25 has a removable floor. And that floor had a screw-out port so one can access the fuel gauge. The pattern is softer than the one on the foredeck, but it's molded in. My knees can testify to that.

So, the point of this post is that somehow they may have provided access to the center of the fuel tank where the fuel gauge is. Just a thought.
