2026 Delta and Bay Extravaganza Sign Up!

Ok, that's the second time that my photo in vertical mode loaded sideways. Anyone know now to rotate them?

Today we relaxed and socialized. Some rain moved in. Started the day with a great breakfast supplied by several of the group. Stripers caught were cleaned for supper. Fish and burgers for supper. Just a couple photos. (See more at my Findpenguins blog linked earlier.)

Forgot to post on here last night. Had a nice time in Petaluma. The river has really been cleaned up. Just a few photos. The rest can be found on my FindPenguins blog linked earlier.

Just a couple of photos from today. The top one is of Pathfinder 1 flying over the Golden Gate Bridge. Pathfinder 1 airship is almost twice the size of the Goodyear Blimps. Google for more info. 251Pathfinder1OverGoldenGateBridge.JPG262SlackTime.JPG264DinnerBell.JPG265Pounder.JPG272AlactrazIsland.JPG

Great day to be on San Pablo Bay. Flat, and little wind. But we did have the ebb tide to run against. Just a few photos to upload here. Another great C-Brat event comes to a close. Thanks John and Laurie for keeping this event happening! You did a great job with all the reservations and coordination that has to be done. We left with 11 boats, and we came back with 11 boats! A little rough that first day in San Pablo Bay, but we all made it without harm. Have a great rest of the summer all!

Thank you John and Laurie for hosting this gathering. You guys did an amazing job with marina reservations and keeping us all together and safe in our travels. Also, much thanks to John and Robbin on Dinner Belle II for hosting our stay at the Black Mallard duck club. The food and good time together was special. It was fun catching all of those striped bass at the club and then to enjoy them on Monday with the fish fry and hamburgers.
Colleen and I had such a good time at this annual event that we hope to see everyone again next year. Gary

Gary reminded me, I forgot to also thank John and Robin for hosting us at the Duck Club. This event continues to be one of the best because of all the folks that make it happen.
As promised to a few, I have uploaded all the photos I took, on to my google drive. I'll leave them up for a few months and will eventually delete them. But if anyone would like to download a photo of their boat, or anything in general, that's what I uploaded them for. Colby

I am clapping for John and Laurie for hosting the 22nd Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza. Without them this long-running storied event would not happen. No one realizes how much work these events require to execute unless you have done it before. I am so happy to return as a guest to this event, and I enjoy John’s and Laurie’s good natured and gentle approach. John and Laurie are in the continuous improvement mode, making more beneficial changes each year. Congratulations to Slack Time and its skipper and co-pilot. You decide who is who!

22nd Annual Delta and Bay Extravaganza Trip Synopsis

This year’s Extravaganza had a record of eleven boats and twenty-three captains and crew! We are always so impressed with the quality of people who join this annual voyage, and this trip was no exception! It is a privilege to call this group of competent mariners our friends. All boats and skippers completed the trip without major mishap. Laurie and I “stand on the shoulders” of our dear friend and founder, Jim Gibson. Without Jim this event would have never happened.

Three new boats joined our trip: DayBreak, Cali Cat and Serenity. Colby and Rosanne traveled the farthest to participate in their second C-Dory, C-Traveler. NoWhere Fast and Morning Star were treated to their 2nd trip. More senior boats were Pounder, Dinner Belle II, Dora Jean, Sea Spray and Slack Time. There were a few trials and tribulations involving wiring and charging systems as well and an unforeseen gas closure at the Benicia Marina. We were able to work around these obstacles. With many, many years of boating experience between us we were able to help each other out with options to solve some technical problems as well as share ideas to make travel on the water easier.

First stop was the highly anticipated visit to Wheeler Island where John and Robbin hosted us with a wonderful BBQ dinner, lively conversation and provided gifts of their own wine and award-winning olive oil. Enough fish were caught by several people to allow for our annual Fish Fry. The potluck was fantastic with many thanks to all boats and crews.

All in all it was a great trip. Flat water from Wheeler Island to Vallejo was welcomed. A downpour strong enough to temporarily block vision provided excitement as we crossed
San Pablo Bay before entering the channel to Petaluma. Calmer waters welcomed our group into Petaluma to meet our scheduled bridge opening at the D Street Bridge. Four of our group had to wait patiently for the SMART Train to pass as the SMART Train Bridge was lowered for the commuter train to pass. It provided a great photo opportunity. Many of us enjoyed a nice meal at a local brewery Brewsters.

The water was quite rough after the San Rafael Bay Bridge. The boaters in the rear paid attention to folks in the lead and headed close to shore to avoid the pounding. Several boats added fuel in Sausalito. Any yet another lovely meal at a Sausalito Italian restaurant. Leaving in the morning we were treated to the sight of the huge blimp Pathfinder flying over Sausalito and the Golden Gate Bridge then down the SF waterfront on its way to the South Bay. It was quite a sight to see!

San Francisco’s South Beach Harbor was welcoming as always. The best weather was also during this day. A couple of folks managed to snag tickets to a Dodgers/Giants game! A few boats stopped at Angel Island to enjoy touring the island and enjoying the views. Leaving San Francisco we were treated to relatively flat water on the way to Benicia. At Benicia our group split into two groups at different docks. Dinner at Sailor Jacks Restaurant was enjoyed by all.

Our adventure concluded in Rio Vista. Four boats stayed an additional night at Rio Vista before heading home. All boats and tow vehicles arrived home safely! And, in our case, a few pounds heavier. Thanks to everyone for another great boat trip! New friends, old friends, great food and being on the water – we have such a great life! We are looking forward to the 23rd Annual Delta and Bay trip next year!

John & Laurie,

Thank you both so much for hosting our first ever tour/overnight/C-Dory adventure. We were brand new with the oldest boat and a dinosaur motor but felt accepted and welcomed by every one of the incredible people we met.

We have much to work on, but plan to come back next year with some more experience and touring under our belt.

What a genuinely stellar group of humans the C-Brats turned out to be!

Warmly,
Stacey & Laurel
Serenity
