2026 Friday Harbor C-Brats Get-Together

Great news! The Lingcod fishing class is on for Saturday, May 16. We are targeting to have the class at 11 am, as the Auxiliary Coast Guard Vessel Inspections start at 9 am and usually end at 11 am. We will confirm class time on Friday, May 15. Tom has spoken of providing chart locations, gear, and tide chart times to best catch those Lings. Colleen and I have known Tom and Susan since first attending the 2018 Friday Harbor C-Brats Get-Together. They are great people to get to know and certainly know how to catch large Lingcod.

Two Lucky Fish +1 will NOT be attending this year, but we have a Very Good Reason for missing:
Kiera is graduating that weekend, with a Master of Science in Astronautical Engineering from USC's Viterbi School of Engineering.
Yeah, actual rocket science. Smarter than I ever was...

Thanks for letting us know Tim. We will miss having you this year. Congratulations to Kiera with her completion of that Masters degree program. Enjoy the ceremony and that special time together. Hopefully, we can see you again next year.

San Juan Island Tour Opportunity!

More great news! Devon's (C-Ration) friend's (Karrie) sister (Jeri) has bought San Juan Transit on the island. (Does that make sense?) Jeri has offered a group tour of the island on Friday. Jeri is part of the King family (King Market, etc) that originally homesteaded on the island in 1860. Jeri knows the island and its history well. She will take us to American Camp, Lime Kiln Lighthouse (hopefully we will see whales), and the San Juan Distillery at Roach Harbor (Jeri is checking to see if they will open for us). This is a great opportunity to see places we can't easily reach by boat.

Tour cost is $25 per person. Jeri requires a 10 person minimum. Colleen and I plan to go and so we only need 8 more. We will meet Friday at 10:45 am at slip H-1 to catch the bus at 11am. This tour should take about 3 1/2 hours to complete. Bring a bag lunch, or Jeri can coordinate with Spring Street Deli to provide a bag lunch - deli sandwich (veggie, gluten free, dairy free options), bag of chips, cookie, and drink - for an extra $25 per person. (Colleen & I will probably opt for our own bag lunch!)

We should be back at the Marina by 3pm which will give us enough time to be ready for our annual 'dinner out' at San Juan Brewery. Meeting time for dinner will be at 4:30 pm at slip H-1.

To signup, send me (Gary/DayBreak) a direct message with the following info: (1) # of people and (2) # of deli lunches. If we have more than 15, Jeri has offered to provide a second bus.

PLEASE SIGNUP ASAP so we can get numbers to Jeri!

The San Juan Island Tour is a great offering for the Friday Harbor participants! Having worked and lived on the island for 5 seasons, we discovered so many cool things about the island that you can't experience by boat. Very cool that you are giving participants other options for things to do while at Friday Harbor.

That sounds like a fun and educational tour. I look forward to the ride--and seeing all you enthusiastic C-Folks.
(DM sent).

Hey, Tim, we'll miss you and all your lucky fish, but as others have said we hope to see you next year. And a great big congratulations to you, Kiera! What an accomplishment. I wish you the best.
(By the way, how can it be that you're a college graduate already?)

Is anyone planning to cruise to Princess Louisa this year?

I plan on going back this year..
I was told there was a cabin you could hike to and would like to see it...

Colleen and I cannot make the PLI trip this year. We have done the hike up to trappers cabin, which was really special, but it was a very difficult hike with uneven terrain, very steep and strenuous but worth it. If not recently marked the trail is hard to follow.

We will be there as always. I am willing to give a ling cod fishing class if any one has interest. Could do a hour with maps and gear and tide charts if we get 5 or more who are interested.. just a thought.
We would like to attend the Ling class. Thanks, Chris and Julie.
