My son (John) is interested in this boat. Any info, comments, good/bad, pitfalls etc. would be appreciated. The 2 strokes are a negative but if in good condition and serviceable could be used until failure.
Any 1st hand knowledge of that boat would be helpful.

The ad is very careful to avoid putting down the age but my estimate is 1985.

My son had a very bad wet hull experience with an old Harvey Dory about 20 years ago and doesn't want a repeat of that.

I told him that possible wood saturation is a possiblity and to have that checked thoroughly.

Thanks for any help.

Looks like a sister ship to the new Susan E, which is an 84, 27 foot with an onboard head and a hanging closet. (PM starcraft Tom for details.) It looks like a very inticing price. I would certainly have a professional marine surveyor go over it prior to purchase. It should have plenty of room. Best of luck to your son.

just looking at the pictures I would say that it does not have a head but a forward facing seat in front of the table. their is also a porta potty in the v-berth.

does sound like the same storage under the aft deck , but no off shore bracket for the motors. I would love to see more pictures. fun How it just turned up after I got mine.

on a re read it states 4 50 gallon fuel tanks. I only have 2 so I bet the storage is not the same.

Tom-

But at least you didn't have to go to Alaska to get it, and you have the secure feeling that Les Lampman (Jr.) went through the boat recently, and all is well!

Jack, I looked at this boat today. Its a 1984 or 5. Motors the same age. Both corners of the transom have serious cracks, like 6"long and deep and wide. I think this boat would need a complete rebuild of the transom before adding new motors, possibly on a custom built bracket. Also, it doesn't have a marine head or a closet for a head. The bottom looks OK
My wife, the Admirial and I looked at Haleighs(?) Comet at EQ marine last winter while we were at the Seattle boat show and this boat is a Lonnnng way from being as nice as that boat. Its a big work project for someone, in my opion. Good luck, Chuck

I wanted it too as it is cool.....But then the reality and cost of replacing the two strokes hit me and now transom cracks.....yikes! Great project boat that 20 grand would probably fix right up nice. Even then, for a 27 foot boat it wouldn't cost that much all things considered. Good luck to the new owners :)
