Saturday April 5th, 2014 (1st Saturday in April) from 7am - 1pm

Its time to get that box of stuff out of the garage, empty the lazarette and head to the 48º North Boaters Swap Meet. Hundreds, even thousands, of your fellow boaters will be selling those items that you've been yearning for but couldn't find, and buying those items you've stored forever that someone really needs. Its a bargain hunters paradise. And its FREE! Free to sell, no admission fee to attend and buy - a true boaters dream. You can and likely will be able to find and/or sell anything boat or marine related. This event is always a go - rain or shine - nothing stops it.

What to Expect: A maritime flea market, full of boating goods, old parts, and new parts, outboards, buoys, dock line, coolers, heaters, chain, clothing, and so much more. Die-hard bargain boaters have been known to arrive the night before to stake out a good parking spot, although sellers are not allowed to use the lower tier of the upper parking lot (closest to the store entrance). In addition to the hundreds of boaters buying, selling and trading boating equipment, Fisheries will be offering great pricing on clearance, discontinued, overstock, scratch and dent products, and last seasons clothing.

Yup, you can get some great deals there. We arrive by about 6AM with a pocket full of small bills. If you wait til 7 quite a few things are gone. and nobody takes plastic. We have bought line, fenders, PFDs, an anchor with rode, etc. If you live in the region its worth going to.
 
I couldn't tell from the link - do sellers need to register in anyway or can one just show up and attempt to unload their junk (I mean valuable stuff)?
 
I was just at fisheries today and asked a sales person about the format. He recommended getting there at 5am if your intent was to sell. He said that by then, it is fully underway and many of the best deals go early (before 5am).

It is free to buy and sell. You need to bring you own tables or whatever you intend on placing your merchandising on. You can sell right off the sidewalk if that is your preference. There will be easily 100+ people selling misc boating stuff.

I am bringing a bunch of stuff there and hope to set up shop by 5am as recommended by the staff. Seems like a great way to sell a lot of things to an interested crowd in a short period of time.
 
So who all was there? I made it down a little before 6AM and unloaded a bunch of crap (I mean good stuff) that I had laying around in the garage. Manage to avoid buying anything but did get rid of a lot of stuff that was gathering dust. I didn't see any other C-Brats but then again, I pretty much stuck by my table until it was empty.
 
I was there around 8am and originally my plan was to sell some items that were sitting unused around the house.

As it turns out, I only had 2 hours there and ended up buying a bunch of stuff instead from others. There was some good items and some good prices for many items that I really didn't need. I purchased some steak knives (12 for $20), and stainless items.

All in all it was a pretty cool event to participate in. Next year, I will bring my items out and set up a booth and table. Now that I know what is being sold and have an idea of prices, I might have some success selling.
