A Big Thanks To Les

Don't know where to post this, so here goes.

Many of you who have been tolerating my attempt to solve my dinghy motor/kicker motor question have show some real patience and genuine interest. :roll: Taking some of your advice, I emailed (pestered?) Les Lampman at EQ Marine with some questions. Being an East Coaster, of course I didn't buy my boat from him (wish I had).

I received a very detailed and personal response from Les. He doesn't know me from Adam, but took time to respond to this desperate Brat. And his response was not gruff or dismissive. It was thoughtful and informative.

I just want to publically thank Les for the time, effort, and thoughtfullness he put into responding. I promise not to take advantage of his time nor am I encouraging all of us to "Ask Les" for answers to all of our questions (would make a great column/forum, wouldn't it?). Now I know why so many Brats look to EQ Marine for their C-Dory needs. The factory should be proud to have such a dealership represent their company. :thup

John, Thanks for saying what most of us in the Pacific NW already know and appreciate. Les is one of most knowledgeable boat outfiltters around and we are glad to have him so close.
 
Yeah, I was mighty TO'd when I learned that he was no longer sellng the Tom Cat (although I have received good service from Master Marine.) Les is a major reason why I bought a Tom Cat in the first place, even though he knew he would not benefit from my purchase.

Without a doubt, Les is the best ambassador that C-Dory has!

I, too, wish I had bought from him, even though he is about a couple thousand miles away.

When I was frequently misinformed about options when we bought our boat, Les went out of his way to help someone that he didn't even know and for no monetary gain.

I have been reading the threads on C-Brat for more than 2 + years. The one thing that stands out beyond all else is the support Les and EQ have lended to the C Dory family. There is something to be said about the old fashioned way of doing business. Honesty, truthfulness, and supreme service kind of says it all.
My grandad always used to say money will come and go,,, but a man's word to a customer will live forever. On my next trip to the northwest I plan to stop by EQ to personally see what folks have been raving about... I am certain it will be a rewarding experience.
My wife will not let me near the check book on that trip... for sure.

I'll have to tip my hat to Les and say you have on more than one occasion assisted Dee and I. We have not purchased anything of note from EQ Marine but Les has always treated us as a customer and friend. If we ever have an opportunity to buy a new C Dory it will be from Les. He is one of the most knowledgeable, honest and helpful people in the business. Les is a true brat and it's always a pleasure to see him especially at a gathering.

Look up customer service in the dictionary.... There is a photo of Les!!

As in the past three years that I have been going to the SBS you will find Les standing in one of the C-Dorys answering questions about the boats.
 
I did it the other way. I was living 3000 miles away at the time and listened to the comments on C-Brats three years ago, and bought my boat from Les and EQ. I second all that has been said, and add that all his advice has been right on, and he undoubtedly saved me anguish on some things I wouldn't have known to put on the boat. I haven't met any of the other dealers, who may be excellent folks. But surely no one can do it better than Les.

Also, the person in the shadows at EQ is Kathy. She, too is one of the great folks in the C-Dory world.

Yes David, Les was the person that explained the different characteristics between the C Dory and Skagit Orca to Dee and me at the 2005 SBS. We were about to choose a 24 ft. Sea Sport with a IO diesel. We thought we would take “one last look at the Orca” and found that the 25 ft. C Dory met our needs better than the Sea Sport or Orca. I guess Les did “sell” us our boat, he just didn’t benefit from the sale. Sorry Les, we’ll see you at the 2007 SBS!!!
 
Since we all seem to giving Les a big group hug...

We purchased our CD25 from Les last year, and as I have mentioned several times in prior posts- have been very happy with everything leading up to and following the transaction. However, one other aspect for me that I haven't heard from anyone else: Les gave me the best price!

I'm taking off tomorrow. See you at the SBS!
 
One real joy for me was listening to Les and my son Joe discussing trim tabs and hydraulic steering. In addition to his other attributes he's a darn good teacher.
 
Les is one person I have not met or communicated with him directly, so I look forward to meeting him along with many other Brats this weekend.
