After 34 years of active involvement in Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Service, I decided at the age of 67, several months ago to retire. Since 911 calls have interrupted my sleep and my daily "life pattern" all those years I thought that it would be most appropriate for me to retire at 0900 HRS on 9/1/11. That being said, at 0900 HRS I was fully retired. My firehouse family all gathered for picture taking and hugs and handshakes as I waited until 0911 HRS to walk out the door of the fire station, no longer a Paramedic/Firefighter. Both a :sad and :D occasion.
I can't say enough about the fantastic folks I've worked with over the years.....Nurses, Doctors, Firefighters, Police Officers, Dispatchers and many of the wonderful patients that I've been honored to assist. Truly the "Dream Job"!

As to my last 24 hour of shift, I was able to spent about three hours out training personnel on the Fire/Rescue boat...not a bad way to end a career!

Congrats Dave. I hope you enjoy your retirement. Hopefully no one has lined up too many "honey-do" projects for you and you'll be able to get plenty of time on the water. Thanks for your years of local service.

Congratulations Dave :thup :love

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!

Charlie

Dave, congratulations on retirement!!!

I echo Charlie's appreciation for your service to your community! Thank you!

Wow, Dave - congrats. I never thought you would. You just don't seem like the retiring type.

Now, no excuses. Get out on that boat.

Congrats - we all appreciate the sacrifices folks in your profession make for the safety of all of us - a heartfelt "thank you."

Congratulations in your retirement. You have hung in there longer than many in the fire service. It is a very demanding job (as well as rewarding).

Not see if you can slow down!

Dave,
Congrats and many heartfelt thanks for your efforts in saving us from ourselves.
Enjoy your well earned retirement & hope to see you out and about in a boat.

Congratulation Dave, you truly deserve it! Now get on that beautiful boat of yours and enjoy.

Dave-

Congratulations!

Thanks for the many years of dedicated service and thoughtfulness!

You were and are a true professional and first class fellow man I'm very proud to know and call a true friend!

Now go have some well-deserved fun!

Joe. :teeth :thup

Congrats, Dave! Looking forward to something like that myself one of these days...in 852 days, 5 hours, 4 minutes and 48 seconds (according to my countdown widget, but who's counting?).

Dave,

Congratulations and hugs from the Dreamer crew. :thup :thup

Hope this means many more boat hours for you and Carol. Shall we count you in for Sequim?

Congrats Dave and thanks for your many years of service. Like the others get out and boat!

Pat, I was going to start my count, but looks like I will retire within a few days of you, so I'll just go by your count!

Congratulations Dave. Well Done.

Congratulations Dave and thank you for your service to your community and the country. I hope to see you in Sequim.

Congratulations Dave and thank you for your service to your community and the country... now can we go fishing???

Congratulations Dave! A job well done. Enjoy your new found time, and your uninterrupted sleep. You have worked hard, cared for many, given to your community, been a resource to all who asked for assistance, and you have done it all, as a true professional. You may have retired, but your influence will be around for a very long time. :thup

Heartfelt congratulations and thanks from the Wild Blue crew. You've given decades of service and deserve all the best for your retirement. We all know what a "fire ball" you are... I heard many of those same comments when we retired: "Are you going to be able to slow down?"

Hell, no! Relish each minute of retirement with the same enthusiasm and dedication you gave to your career. The big difference is: you can do it all on YOUR schedule!

Our best to you and your family - exciting times ahead!

Jim & Joan

Well done and a well deserved retirement. Enjoy!!
