Access to rear of water tank on 2007 Tomcat

I need to access the back of the water tank in my 2007 Tomcat. Unfortunatley, there is no access to the rear of tank. I would need to open the hatch located under the dinete and cut thru the floor under the hatch to get to the water tank. The reason is that the tank has shifted forward up and over its mounts and I need to move it back in place. In order to do so, I need to lift up the rear of the water tank and slide back.

Has anyone done this? Looking for advise/wisdom.

Fred-

Without owning a TomCat, or having photos, it's hard to visualize your situation exactly, but it sounds like you have access to the front of the tank, since you can see the problem, right?

How about draining the tank to get the weight out, then inserting a bladder* under the tank and to the rear, and inflating it to use it as a pneumatic jack? Then you could, presumably, just push it back on its mounts and add blocks and secure them to keep it from coming forward again.

Probably not that simple, but it's been 3-1/2 hours and no response!

* There are a number of inflatable rubber ball toys that would probably do the job along with an air compressor, etc.

I can't help either. My tank ( on a 2006 TC) is on the starboard side, along with the fill, pump, shower sump, etc. The only thing on the port side is a fuel tank.

On edit, if your cabinets have the L brackets holding them in, you should be able to take them out to get to the sponson where the tank is.. Not sure when they changed to the molded interior but I think it was in 2008.

Good!

They make a kids ball that is not a kick ball, but a punching toy that's like a heavy walled balloon with a long nipple or neck on it. It kind of folds down like the breathing bladders they had on WWII oxygen masks, if you've ever seen photos of those. Might be the bladder that would work for you (!) (Mine just doesn't have the endurance it used to!)

The early Tom Cats had the Stb water tank. I have a second tank I was going to put on the port side, so I have looked at access. I would have to cut the floor out just inside of the hull, with a Fein or similar saw. In my boat there is an access to the foreward part of the port fuel tank--which would be the aft part of the water tank--it is a wooden (Decaboard) plate on the bottom of the storage compartment under the dinette foot rest. Check and see if the bottom of this area is removable--as mine is--there are 4 screws, with grommets in each corner holding it in place.

I would use a pry bar to get it back in place, then epoxy blocks, as well as secure the tank with straps. The stb tank in my boat has not moved. But the inlet and outlet are foreward--I suspect the port tank is opposite.

Fred,
If you have access to the front of the water tank. Try a window suction cup that you pump up. You should be able to just pull it forward.

Thanks to you all for the ideas. Marks (ShiRoz) suction cup idea did the trick! Lifted the tank up and slid her right back into place. She is ready to be filled this spring.
