I don't want to pay the price for factory made rocket launchers and was hoping that one of you might have deminsions and sugestions on making a set.
What do you use for inserts?
Thanks in advance, I hope this discussion helps save us all some more money for more boat jewlery.

Mr. Fisherman,

Take a look at my post #4 in the Radar thread. I posted a pic of my roof rack which shows clearly the design of my rocket launcher.

Greg brought up a good question. Do these rocket launchers get in the way of casting? Those of you who have them, do you like them? What would you change?

Casting with the rocket launchers is not an issue for me - usually, I cast port-starboard, and avoid them completely. When I want to cast for-aft, I just lean over the edge and cast sideways.

But do you like them?

For me, they're great. Rods are completely out of the way, and are within easy reach.

Only problem I had was the initial install of the rod holders on the rail. They slipped for about a month - I never had a rod fall out, but came close a couple of times. Each time I went out, I tightened them a little more. Eventually, things settled in place and stopped moving.

The clamps are not strong enough to hold my large salmon net without slipping while under way - it's just too end heavy. Fortunately, the net fits fine up against the motor well, strapped to my rear rail.
