Just wondering what people think about these - http://www.portaproducts.com/. It provides a way to adjust the height of the engine without tilting it. Might be useful for gunk holing, etc.
Different variation of a Jack Plate. I don't know what these cost. There are many jack plates available. Bob's machine shop has a good reputation--and are fairly reasonable. All give some setback--the Portabracket seem to be more set back (thus the motor needs to run higher) than most Jack plates.
The jack plates are common in Florida--and I am considering putting one on the Caracal for shallows fishing.
Cheapest one is about $2300. Seems a bit unnecessary to me. I'll stick to just tilting the motor up. If I am in water shallow enough that I want to raise the motor I'm going to be going pretty slow anyway, so the tilted motor is fine.
