Were the the spark plugs changed? How did they look? Any pics?
What is WOT ?
I use Ring Free and Rec gas, and oil additive. Just Yamaha high weight oil and change often.
Best additive is oil changes.
What oil weight or spec are you using? 10 W 30? There are thicker oil available.
I would run it as much as possible and safely at WOT for several hours over a few weeks to blow out buildup and get the rings moving freely. Change oil now and after fast runs.
At some point, have the compression checked.
I am thinking the motor has not run at WOT very often and or motor is not at max rpm and being bogged down or lugging. Motor height maybe off and not propped to max rpm.
