Most of the postings here, including ours, relate to C-Dorys from an adult perspective -- anchoring, navigating, electronics, etc -- all important and interesting information. Even when cruising our boats, we all write about anchorages, rough water, walks to town -- again, all interesting and useful for others contemplating a cruise in those waters.

But -- there's a whole different way of looking at a C-Dory -- and especially, a cruise on a C-Dory -- through the eyes of a 12-year old!

Hopefully, his tale about cruising Alaska will not only give a kid's view but also re-awaken the kid in all of us so when we cruise we see and experience life in that same exuberant way.

I had just gone back to see if my post of a few minutes ago was showing and saw yours. Penny and I just go through looking at four.htm. What a great job you did catching the excitement of you time with your son and grandson.

In 4 years of watching this site that is one of the most refreshing things I've seen.

I loved it, Bill and El. Every word and every photo, especially the one showing the Rana Verde with it's pants down. It's tough to catch Chris in a forgetful moment. Nice Halibut, btw. Did it end up as dinner or released to grow up into one of those famous Alaskan butts?

Great story & he seems like a great kid too! My 4 yr old loves ours, he's on the autism spectrum & it's really good for him - his latest thing is every eve when I get home from work, he runs up & says "Go take nap on boat!?" (He loves the v-berth, runs up there everytime we have incoming rollers).
 
What a sweet, wonderful story. Thanks Bill and El for sharing your wonderful experience with your grandson (and son) in Alaska. In our middle age, it's hard to remember what it was like to be 12 again and reading Bryce's story brought all that back for me, for just a moment anyway.

I loved it! As always you two show how young at heart you are and I hope to learn more about Grandparenting form you as well as a lot of other interesting things. Keep them comming.
 
We appreciate your kind comments to this posting -- Bryce has made a few minor editing changes since the initial posting. And, Sneaks, most of the Halibut they released but Bryce's catch Chris barbequed that night for all the C-Dory folk to enjoy.
 
Ditto...unfortunately, at present we have no grandkids (that we know of anyway), and it AIN'T lookin' like any are imminent...:cry

Great story and photos!! Not many people can say they had that kind of adventure, especially a young man like your grandson. I wonder if teachers still have student his age write about "what I did on my summer vacation"? 8)
