Last year I was by myself walking to the MOUT facility on Fort Richardson to link up with my unit when I had a moose start following me down the road. He seemed to be getting agitated and everytime I stopped and stepped into the woods to let him go by he would stop too.
Now, I had a full combat loaded ruck, an M-16, and about 50 rounds that were unfortunately blanks and all I could think was how ironic it would be that after surviving 4 combat tours that I was going to meet an untimely end from a moose while clutching my useless automatic weapon!
I would much rather meet up with a bear than a moose (unless I am hunting). They are beautiful animals but can be very unpredictable, they eat our gardens, and they are a real hazzard on roadways (you hit a 1000 lb moose on the road and your toast).
