Another Leaky 25

I also had a problem with water entering through the Wallas exhaust when in rough water, and fixed it with VersaChem High Temp RED RTV Silicone, Type 605, PN. 65010, which is rated to 650 degrees F. Available at NAPA.

I disconnected the metal flex tube inside the cabin, and disassembled the thru hull fitting. The thru hull was cleaned, and reassembled with the silicone in place around the opening and in the screw holes. The flex hose was reassembled with silicone on the stub end of the thru hull. I also wiped a thin film of silicone on the outside of the first two inches of the flex hose.

This has worked, and apparently lets water which gets into the Wallas exhaust opening flow back out.
 
Hmm. I had our 25 in the water for six months straight and always expected some amount of water in the cabin and bilges and just stayed on top of it. I assumed that there would be a good amount of condensation in the cabin due to the lack of bilge in that area and direct contact with the cold water. The subsequent evaporation and condensation on the roof made a rain cycle and the amount of water overall seemed fairly constant and minor albeit quite wet. Am I wrong to expect such a situation while sitting in cold water? I haven't noted any over leakage anywhere.
 
I just realized I never posted the final resolution to this problem. The REAL problem was the anchor drain issue that others have mentioned. The good news in all of this is that the factory was ultimately extremely helpful. Bret Reynolds handled the warranty claim and finally solved the problem. Not sure why it took them so long to realize this was the issue, but once they fixed it, the problem was solved. Since we live so close to the factory, they actually came and got the boat, took it to the factory, and not only fixed the leak but installed an access cover so that we can always just unscrew it and look for dampness under the V-berth.

So once again, the C-Dory factory came through...
