I had an email exchange with Mark last week. I didn't learn much other than that their options/plans were becoming clearer. Wish I knew more, hope they get back up and running soon.

I discussed this with Marc Grove at the Apalachicola gathering. Marc feels that they were will insured and will be back in business as soon as they get the details outlined. I would expect to see at least one new boat, post fire, in at Wefing's within a few months….

I suspect it would be a push to build a new boat before the Seattle show--they certainly could and should put a "recent: build in the show.

Oh boy, have we been down this road before, right?

Though it would seem that a good effort would be a good investment in the company future. If they are going to sell new boats, they will need to show that they (can and do) build them, and where else do they have as concentrated a market as at the (Seattle) boat show(s).

I'm not a marketing genius, just a pretty satisfied consumer.

Um... If they are going to sell new boats, they will need a facility in which to build them. I may be wrong, but I think that's probably their priority right now.

Most likely not only a facility--which is already built--zoned for this type of activity, and suitable--ventillation, storage, parking etc.

Also not only supplies, but tooling other than the molds, patterns (may have to be remade), tools, including air compressors, maybe a resin infusion system (?) There is a lot that most do not think about when boat building. Fortunately these folks have been building boats for a long time and they know how to do it!

I suspect that they are actually very busy--doing things which we will never see.

Very Surely, admittedly, they have a whole list of priorities, but the ultimate goal, if they are going to be able to stay in business must be to sell boats. They need to sell new boats, or become a refurb and service facility for the used boats that we sell.

I was at Sportcraft Marine today and heard rumor that a nice location on the waterfront near Bellingham had been secured and there was some hope of activity starting next week. Can this be true?

It's pretty cool how easy that reads. We are the de facto leader for C-Dory resale and the place to look first. :smiled A little pride there.

The Marketplace Reference Forum has right about 600 sales success stories, and that is probably around 75% of the ads that have been posted because some people want theirs deleted or they don't get saved for some other reason (e.g., pointing to Craigslist or other selling resources, although some of those end up saved too). Not bad for a simple little hole in the web like C-Brats.

And we're heading into our second decade...

I second that rumor on location .
If they refurb old boats , you can just kiss the brand goodbye and enjoy your exclusive collectible ! If new boats are not being made or sold ,C Dory [and the dealers that support the customers] go away . We don't want that to happen , do we ?

There's an update on the C-Dory Facebook page today. They have new space at the Port of Bellingham and are moving equipment in today. They plan to open back up within a week!

That's good new all round as it's central to Puget Sound and the Salish Sea as we in BC,Can. now call the inside coastline from the Juan De Fuca to Campbell River.

Long time reader first time participant. Officially confirmed that it is a fact that NMI is currently setting up shop in a new facility and they expect to be resuming production for C-Dory, SeaSport and Osprey products by Thanksgiving.

We were planning on showing 3 C-Dorys at the 2015 Seattle Boat Show to show that we are committed to being a C-dory dealer before the fire put a glitch in our plan. Current hope and plan is that NMI will be able to get one model done in time for us to proudly display at the show. More to come later on exactly what model will be displayed...
