Hello All...I ran across this add for an older C-Dory up in Washington State

https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/ ... 36273.html

What really got my notice was the following text in the ad: "these are non planning hulls, very stealth like, very dry and warm, also very SLOW.

Can that be correct? A non-planing C-Dory? Looking at the picture, it appears to be a fairly standard hull to me. Do you think the seller had it underpowered and couldn't get it to plane?

Under powered, over priced.

I don't know, this past year, I've seen many outdoors sporting items sell for ridiculous prices. However, if it sell, then I guess the price was not ridiculous. Right now, I regularly see used high-end bicycles selling for more than they cost new.

It's claim that the C-Dory is a non-planning hull that seems very odd to me.

The 9 out of 14 18ft c-dory is for sale. It has a 2012 70HP i believe. It's located in Missoula, Montana. If interested, message me and I can send you the owner's number.

I don't understand all the "under powered" comments. I ran a 70Hp Suzuki on my 22 Cruiser just fine. I have recently upgraded to a Honda 90Hp that I do like better of course but never had any issues with the 70. Maybe I'm just not in that big of a hurry...lol.

It is an 18, so the 70 should surely be able to plane. As to the "Non-planning hull", I would guess the seller or at least that statement writer does not know what they are talking about.

I stand corrected, yes 60, which might be a bit on the shy side for an 18, but should still be able to plane IF, it has the right prop.

I personally think a 60 hp motor will likely be fine on the back of it, as long as one manages weight. It doesn't take that much to plane these boats as everyone is well aware. About the only thing I don't like about it at this price, is the trailer under it, but it may just be cosmetics. If I were shopping for it, more pictures would be nice, but it looks decent from what I can see.

When I bought my first of 3 c-dory boat it was a22 cruiser with 3 big guys and it had a 50 Hp Honda and top speed was 16 mph so a 60 Hp on a 18 ft it should do 20 mph or more if it doesn’t try another prop
