Got this e-mail the other day. Think it's legit?

Dearly Beloved Friend,

As you read this, I don't want you to feel sorry for me, because, I
believe everyone will die someday. My name is Mr.Henry Carl. A merchant in
Australia.I have been diagnosed with Esophageal cancer. It has defiled all
forms of medical treatment, and right now I have only about a few months
to live, according to medical experts. I have not particularly lived my
life so well, as I never really cared for anyone (not even myself) but my
business.Though I am very rich, I was never generous,I devoted my entire
life to my business as that was the
only thing I cared for.But now I regret all this as I now know that there
is more to life than just wanting to have or make all the money in the
world. I believe when God gives me a second chance to come to this world I
would live my life a different way from how I have lived it.

Now that God has called me, I have willed and given most of my property
and assets to my immediate and extended family members as well as a few
close friends. I want God to be merciful to me and accept my soul so,I
have decided to donate ceaselessly to charity organizations.
I want this to be one of the last good deeds I can acheive here on earth.
So far, I have distributed money to some charity organizations/Foundations
in the Australia, U.A.E, Algeria, Malaysia and some Countries in Africa.
my health has deteriorated so badly, I cannot do this myself anymore. Due
to the present devastating attack(Hurricane Katrina) on New Orleans. I
would want to donate my deposited funds to it's victims.

I once asked some members of my family to close some of my accounts and
donate the funds to sunami Victims but instead, diverted the funds into
their private accounts overseas. Hence, I do not trust them anymore, as
they seem not to be contempt with what I have left for them. The last of
my money which no one knows about is a huge cash deposit of Three
Million United States Dollars $3,000,000,00USD. It is been deposited with
a Finance House abroad.

I am asking you for a favour,I want you to help me collect this deposited
funds from the Finance House and donate it to Hurricane Katrina's victims
in New Orleans, USA.I promise in the name of God,to compensate you with
some reasonable percentage of the deposited funds, for your time and also
expenses incured as i will not be able to carry out this wish
due to my present health condition.

I will be very greatful if my wish is duly acomplished. Please if you feel
you can hanlde this, write me back through the email address i can check :
carlhenri_2006@xxxxxxx.hk (I xed out part of the address but it's from Hong Kong)

God be with you.
Mr.Henry Carl.

I told him he could put the money in my PayPal account and I'd take it to the New Orleans victims personally.. :thup . A new version of the Nigerian scam it looks like...

Charlie

Charlie:
When you get the money, feel free to place a sizable amount in MY PayPay Account so I can help you distribute it in my new boat.

I guess there are some that would fall for this, they keep doing it up. You'd think they'd clean up their grammar and spelling though if they want to sound legit...

Never did get my $$ from the Nigerian royal family either.. :disgust :smilep

Charlie

FUNNY as HELL!!!

Virtually unbelieveable!

Still funny either way..... :xlol :xlol :xlol :xlol

Thanks for the Christmas gift!

Joe.

B~C – some of those scams on 401eater are hilarious. I am sure I have gotten scam email but will never know. If I do not know the person or whom it is from, I never open it. Looking at all the fun the scambaiters are having, I almost wish I had time to play their game. However, I think I would rather spend it on this site.

I cannot believe the number of solicitations that get spammed to me. I have spam guards, pishing guards, and junk email guardsl filtering and they still get through. The only good thing from Charlie's email is that I am not alone... geeze... is there no help for the widows son? That my friends is the highest calling for these kinds of blantant intrusions. I bid all greetings and salutations. Butch

Is there any chance we can take the money, double it with a "HOT STOCK TIP", use some of the excess funds to buy "VIAGRA, DISCRETELY" and be able to "GIVE HER WHAT SHE REALLY WANTS!!"? In a few short weeks, I should have my cut of the money from the kind, though slightly illiterate, gentleman from Nigeria that I was able to help out. Not to mention the money I will be getting for the sale of my boat for MORE than my asking price. I should be rolling in dough and won't need to keep any percentage for myself. Really.

Ain't technology grand?

A person I know fell for one of the Nigerian Scams--even flew to Legos--said it must be so because he had a photograph of the lady and her son along with their driver's licenses. He kept insisting it was on the up and up.

He was a real estate agent and was going to buy this person a house for her and the son to live in when they "liberated" the millions. I never had the guts to ask him how much he lost--but at one point he just stopped talking about the whole affair. There is one web site which says that over a million US dollars are lost to these scams every day in the US!

Heck with this $3 XXX... what ever, we could all take our C Dories and have a fleet cruise to New Orleans and have one heck of a gathering!

Iam sorry that your friend got riped off, but I have to ask how?? Are people really that stupid or is it the greed that gets them? I get these and other scams all the time and just delete them. How could a person fall for this?

As for the tele-marketers. Let them run on about what ever they are selling and them ask." What are you wearing? is it black? silk ot leather?" man or women they will stop in disbelief and ask you to repeat that. Thats when I tell them what I am wearing!!! Well not what i am really wearing. They hang up and I never get the same sales pitch twice.

If I get any monies, I wil split it eqallyn with the cdories fiends. Thaqt should be about a bouck a piece

charlies

If youse lik, youcan send me monies at my house, just ask fo rthe addrs.

Starcraftom, I think that my friend was niave. He had not heard about the scams, and it was about 5 years ago. He thought that the person had been refered because he was a realitor. He really thought that she had over a million dollars which she would get to buy a house--and of course he fell for the put up some to help her get it out of where ever it was. I didn't find out about it, until after he had flown to Africa--I think that he had taken quite a risk by doing that.

On the other hand, this same individual purchased a trawler, spent a few thousand dollars on "captain's" courses, did a cruise on the inland rivers and then advertised his services as a charter boat operation. No customers--so that fell thru. Some folks just seem to be more trusting than others--and some of these get hurt badly in the real world.

Peter,my most trusted friend, I think these are mirorly attmpts to duplikate the kuawality spelling and word krafting found in manie of the Nigerian scam e-mails.
I mite add that I have a distant relative that resently passed away that had a new KomTat boat, this loverly new truck is just sitting in eskow waiting for a new owner. I can arrainge for you to recieve this fine car but you will need to send me a check to cover the sales and inhertiance tax, for just $18,300 you can tak possion of this fine motorhome. please send the money now because we need it to help fund Father Lance Myboyles orphanage

:)

And, I might add an excerpt from the website link on the first page that showed all those hilarious exchanges from scammers and anti scammers.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE
Scambaiting is not a racist activity. Anyone with racist views is most definitely NOT welcome on this site. 419eater maintains a ZERO TOLERANCE policy towards racism throughout the site and forums.

It is important to understand that scambaiters only respond to scam emails we receive. Unfortunately is is a sad fact of life that the majority of "419" scams do in fact originate from Western and Southern Africa - we estimate 50% - 55% of "419" scam attempts are sent from Western & Southern Africa - but these scams also come from places such as England, Spain, Ireland, USA, Canada, The Netherlands, Australia and many more.

For the most part these criminals are not, "poor people trying to scratch a living", but are indeed very prosperous compared to their law-abiding countrymen, and many operate in highly organised, and highly successful criminal gangs. Millions of dollars are stolen on a DAILY basis, with absolutely no thought given to victims, who are losing vast amounts of money, homes, relatives, jobs and worse. Contrary to popular belief, it is not just "greedy & stupid people" that fall for these scams.

Peter this was just a (maybe poor) attempt to imitate those letters on the site. Sorry if you were offended, it was not meant that way at all. The original scam attempt I posted in fact, came from Australia (he said) but he (or she  ) had a Hong Kong address. You'll note that it's almost an identical letter to the first one posted on the website. This jerk even sent me some pictures, I'll post one in a minute. If I thought for a minute it was real, I might feel sorry for him (or her).

Here's the poor soul now...
