Anyone have extra gelcoat?

Hi Brats,

I'm having a problem getting some C-Dory white and green gelcooat for Valkyrie, an '05 boat.

I have an area on the beam where someone at my marina moved a fender and caused some dock scrapes. Also, when I was cleaning Valkyrie in the drive with a sponge mopni forgot there was a metal piece as part of the "wringer" and gouged a scratch deep into the green stripe. Ouch!

Anyhow, I called Triton and talked with Jeff, who told me that they don't sell direct to customers and gave me the name of Fiberlay, their supplier, and to call back if I had any more questions.

Fibelay wants $72 a quart for white and $122 a quart for green. I called Jeff and asked for suggestions, mentioning I might post this on the C-Brats seeing if anyone had anymore extra stashed away in the garage somewhere. He said that was probably the best idea as he can't ship gelcoat, but if I was local I could stop be and pick up some.

So, any chance someone has a little extra green or white gelcoat hiding somewhere?

While renovating our 22’ C-Dory (R-Dory), I needed more than supplies, I needed a supplier that could hold my hand throughout the various steps with recommendations on materials and their handling.

To that point I had found many material suppliers but needed technical support w/ people that had hands on experience.

I later found out that many of the http://www.fiberglasshawaii.com/about/about.html customers are making/manufacturing custom surf boards.

Their technical support people particularly “Ge Ge” were there step by step with material recommendations on every phase of the project.

I ordered small amounts along the way (as needed) until the project was finished.

Next project we will use this supplier again because of their know how and helpful way of doing business.
