Apostle Islands/Lake Superior launch & rig storage?

We are making tentative (June 2010) plans to trailer the Tom Cat to Minnesota and Wisconsin, combining boating with visiting friends and family. On this trip we hope to go cruising in the Apostle Islands as well as some MN lakes. I bought a copy of "Bonnie Dahl's Superior Way" (looks like a great cruising guide!) but I cannot find anything about places to launch near the Apostle Islands, and more importantly, to securely store the truck and trailer. Anyone out there with info on this?

Thanks,
Warren

Warren,

We have lauched at Bayfield right in the middle of town.

The launch is nice deep water but a little cramped. I think it cost $5.00 to put in and park.

We left the truck and trailer there for 3 days, no problems.

You'll love the Apostles.

Regards,

Capt Dan

We launched Journey On in Bayfield and cruised the Apostle Islands. The launch ramp is on the south side of town. It isn't the fanciest, but just have faith:

Worked well for us. We rented a slip for a week (or so) at Rays Point Marina which was very nice. The Apostle Islands aren't very far, the slip was nice to come back to, and the marina was super friendly. Except I hope they got the hot water fixed. The plumber had to come from Duluth. We would cruse the Islands by day and come back every couple of days. Private and they had a great place to store the trailer. We used the truck to visit different places.

Bayfield has a restaurant which gives out a fish boil. It's down by the ferry landing. Good food and most of the waiters were summer help from Eastern Europe. Ours was from Russia and we talked about that. Stockton Island has a nice harbour and a great walking tour.
