appraisal for C-Dory

How would I get a book value for a C-Dory? I have a 1998 22' FISHERMAN with a 75 HP Honda and a honda trolling motor plus miscellaneous radar, fishfinder gear, located in California.

Unless you're looking for a professional appraisal for some reason, any appraisal you get will be "low". Book value is typically 25-50% less than what they sell for. There is a boat blue book, go google it and see.

If you're trying to figure out how much you could get for it, best way is to look at what similar boats are selling for on this site.

The NADA guides are quite low--especially for older boats. Best to just look at the sales numbers on the site. If you need an "official" appaisal, then you probably will have to hire a marine surveyor. Be sure that he is supplied with those numbers which come from the sales data.

The BUC value is also quite low, since this is generated by the sales, and very few C Dories are sold thru dealers.

Thanks for the info. I don't have to have a legal appraisal, just trying to figure out how to price for sale. I haven't seen very many ads near that year for the Angler model.

trishc00 – the things that will determine the price you can get for your boat are;

• condition of the hull
• engine(s), the year and hours
• the electronics and age of them
• modifications made to the boat
• accessories with the boat
• condition of the trailer

Age of the boat will have the least affect on price.

Looking at the market sales and what is for sale currently--I would price the boat in the high 20's/low 30's. Some folks like the 90 over the 75, but a Honda kicker brings the value up a little, The electronics bring the value up slightly. My personaly feeling is that the cruiser sells more rapidly because of the accomidations in the pilothouse--so that may be a factor. Being in Calif. is a plus, since West Coast folks can reach it in a day or so for inspections.

If you have a good trailer, figure that in, too.

Yes Sam, I have listed the boat there, and will place it on this site as well. I appreciate all the suggestions. They have been very helpful.

Thanks Sam, I believe my camera only needs batteries. I am out of town through the weekend and hope to add the pics next week. Maybe I can find a much younger girl in a bikini to pose on the boat.

I do have pictures of the C-Dory available for email if anyone would like to request.

Why not simply post the photos to the site?? It's easy to do. Follow this link to do so.

I have not had any success getting the photos onto the site, and its just as easy for me to email the photos if someone has an interest in them.

Photos of this boat.

My understanding is that the price is $29,500. Trish let me know if that is incorrect.

It would be a good idea to list the equipment on the boat. I see earlier you listed radar, but I do not see it in the photos????

Thanks so much Dave, the boat has the following items:

EZloader galvanized trailer, Custom bench, Lorance fishfinder, Humminbird CB, Interphase pilot Lorance, Blaupunkt AM-FM Cassette. Humminbird fish finder. There is not an hour meter for the motors, the larger 75 HP was assessed by the local marine shop as cherry condition. The smaller Honda trolling unit is in good condition (it is older and pulled from my dad's previous boat and put on this one).

I may have used the wrong term in regards to radar, the Interphase pilot Lorance is what I was referring to. The boat is located in Visalia, Ca.

I have taken additional pictures of the interior and will send those via email to anyone interested

Dave,

I hesitate to bother you again, but could you advise me how to transfer the pictures to the for sale section? I can create the ad, but don't know how to transfer the pictures.

trishc00 - your photos are in the boats for sale album/section.

Post your boat for sale in the boats for sale thread, giving as much information as you have. You can't supply too much info. Then copy and paste this line onto your post on a line by itself exactly as I have it.

Code:
[ATTACH=full]102657[/ATTACH]

This will put a photo of your boat on the post, then after the above line add the following line.

Code:
Additional photos starting [url=http://www.c-brats.com/modules.php?set_albumName=ForSalePics&id=p1010003&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php]here[/url]

When they click on the link “here” it will take them to the additional photos.

If you want to send me the interior photos, I will post them in the boats for sale album for you also.

One additional thing to be aware of. The code you copy (if you type it out), do not put any spaces in it anywhere and it is all one line. If it appears to be more than one line, it is just the way your computer/browser displays the text. Once you are ready to post the message, you can click on the "Priview" button to see if it looks right before you post it.
