I had a story and photos published in a local newspaper today. On most weekends I still have boaters come up to me while anchored on these reefs. Most ask how the dive conditions are, but I still get some nice comments about our C-Dory Tomcat. It never gets old.

Phil, Very nice! Thanks

Nice article and pictures Phil!

Thanks for taking the time to post it on the C-Brats site.

Take care,

I have always loved your pictures. Great article

Excellent Photos and really enjoyed your article, well done.

Phil'

Those are wonderful pictures. We've always enjoyed the sea-life in SoCal, but those pictures are beyond what we've seen before.

Thanks, Boris

Beautiful photos--thans for sharing. The diving off S. Calif. has always been superb. But as the article said--there was a rapid diminishment of marine life--and it is just now starting to come back.

Nice. I did some wreck diving in the Pacific; WWII Japanese wrecks primarily. Always enjoyed the sea
life. Thanks for sharing.....

Very nice photos Phil. I don't think I've ever seen photos of octopi with eggs. Is this a common thing or is it something you see only rarely? Also, are the octopi more aggressive/protective when they have eggs in their nest? If so, how do they show that? Just a non-diver wondering.

Sorry for not checking on this thread sooner. I dived locally for more than twenty years before I saw my first octopus nest. Now that I know where to look I find them all the time.

Once the female lays her eggs she remains on the nest, aerating the eggs to keep silt out. She stops eating and eventually dies, sacrificing herself for her next generation. Other than crawling a few inches away from my camera the octopus doesn't so much.

Phil, I really enjoyed reading your informative & interesting article & the photos just amazing.

Jay
