I did a little public service project for a commercial fisherman today. We got to talking about Herring & he said he would bring me a bunch in May when he gets back from AK. I'm thinking this could really get the cost per serving way down on those fall salmon. This guy also said that the cannery in Ilwaco is way over stocked on Herring and they are selling it cheap, may be a good time to load up the freezer.
 
We were out last weekend trolling sardines, anchovies and krocadiles. It was a little slow so my buddie broke out the herring oil that he brought back from Alaska. We dipped the bait and lures in the herring oil and it made a big difference. We started getting double hookups- now if I could find something to keep the seals away- they kept stealing my salmon.
