Bamfield lookout -Brady's Beach

Around the corner from Bamfield (BC's west-coast-Barkley Sound area) is a little know spot called Brady Beach.
They placed a little commemorative bench on this lookout ledge which has a view looking out to the Pacific in all it's wild spender. The boots alongside the bench (just visible) are poured full of concrete. The plaque says - To a fine women who rowed her own boat and caught her own fish, on this wild north west coast. And they must of had her iron will in mind - as just getting up to sit on the beach is a test in it's self.

I have sat there as well and will be back in the area later this week with a group of kayak fishers following closely behind. There is a similar monument off a rugged point of Wower island as well in the area. Hard to access that one.

Wow --this board is amazing their/your scope, interests, and travels.
We would like to do a little tripping around the Broken Island group but I think it would be tricky for overnight camping with our 16' C-Dory as sheltered anchor sites are unknown to me. Beaching of course is an option, but then the tide must be considered for relaunching. Do you have any thoughts here?

There are a lot of anchorages if you have some decent anchoring gear. Out on the north end of effingham is a pretty good one that you could easily tuck into.

For a 16, there are quite a few small coves that would work. Effingham Bay, mentioned already is huge and pretty well protected. Also the area between Dodd, Willis, Walsh and Turtle, commonly known as Turtle Bay is good. The small bay between Jarvis and Jaques is very protected, but has a rocky floor. The interior bay on Nettle looks good, but have not seen others anchored there.

Others look good on the chart, but have not seen boats anchored other spots.

In the Deers, Robbers Passage has an outpost of the Port Alberni Yacht Club, for tieup, showers, water. Other bays would have an exposure to either the NW or SE, if you feel brave enough to trust them when the other wind blows.

Is Toquart Bay launch site still closed and-if so- where would you recommend we launch our 16-C-Dory to do the BI group?

Like they said. Lots of places to anchor a 16 out there but you will need to look closely sometimes to see them. The bay a Dodd/Willis is perfect. Launching can be done at China creek or Port A or Ucluelet. Port A was what we last used and it worked out fine. The new site near Toquart is called Secret beach but sadly there is not boat launch planned as of yet. We will launch kayaks from there tomorrow.

The little corner of ocean you encounter when leaving Ucluelet plus the crossing of Loudoun Channel is more exposed than the other approaches in my opinion.
