BBQ & Water

Two new questions regarding my newly purchased used C-22.

1. I wanted to mount my grill on the boat, which uses a rod holder as it's recepticle. (It's one of the nice stainless steel rectangular shaped grills.) I ended up mounting a rod holder in the starboard aft corner. In retrospect, does anyone see any issues with this, considering the controlled, but open flame of the grill, and the fuel tank vent which is directly under the grill on the boat. (About 12-18" away.) How do others mount their grills?

2. Back to the water and bilge pump questions. As I read some of what others have written, I'm curious how will the boat float with two larger people in the vberth? (About 350 lbs total). For now, I do not have a cockpit canvas, and the 2007 only has the far aft bilge pump. Will the boat sit lower in the bow causing any rain to run forward in the cockpit? How have other's dealt with this? Thanks. Colby

You could both get up in the berth and have someone pour water into the cockpit from the dock. See if it's draining to the bilge or if it's accumulating at the bulkhead!

That fuel vent would be a red flag for me! We have BBQed while rafted to C-Renity and I noticed their fuel vent near the BBQ. I wrapped their fuel vent with blue masking tape for the evening and removed it as we broke up the raft. A simple fix for a possible problem.

Some one manufactures a suction cup apparatus that is used to cover(pressed around) the outside vent during fueling. Any overflow or "burping" is contained in that. This should contains fumes. Seems like an inexpensive fix to provide safety in the situation mentioned above.

Ditto on the fuel vent risk, especially in hot weather. I moved our's aft for that very reason. It now is used hanging over the splash well on the port side, away from any fuel lines as well.
