Best idea under $20

Black Rubber Snubbers. :thup They're all over my boat, from holding portable fuel tanks, battery box and ice chests in place to keeping the anchor from rattling. And, they don't tend to lose their elasticity like a "Bungee Cord". :wink

Are you talking about those things truckers use on their trailers?

Warren,
Those are the ones. :thup The hooks are not stainless, :sad but they hold up pretty well around the salt air. In some cases I have made my own hooks out of stainless rod.
:wink

If you want to carry kayaks on the roof of your C-Dory but don't want to invest in a special rack go to your local Wal-Mart. Purchase 2 kids "noodles", used as floatation in the water. They are about 4" diameter and about 4 ft long. Price about $4.00 each. Cut to size as required. Hold them on the roof with some shock cord from one hand railing to another through the hollow center. After removing the kayak (s) the noodles are secure and won't blow away.

Gee "Dog", Just about anything left out in the winter at your place would shatter if you dropped it. :wink The mention of those foam noodles reminded me of another "Trick" Putting Foam Pipe Insulators on a railing as a place to hang up fishing lures. :teeth Something else, :smileo Harbor Freight has 4" 9 LED Mini Flashlights for $5.00. I just bought 3 (one for the wife's purse). :lips

Surveyors Tape (In bright pink or orange) I started using multi strands of it on my Prawn and crab trap markers when the flags started to disappear. Now I tie it on radio antennas to scare birds and have used small ribbons on a hook for fishing. :wink

That would be beer, followed by aspirin, toilet paper is a good one unless you truly are "ruffing it". Duct tape has been mentioned a lot. I wonder what kind of substitute it is for toilet paper. Never mind, I don't want to know.

I did recieve those lil suckers from neat items. Assorted colors, wow they are bright. Something to keep those sodas from sliding when we are in the chop. :crook

Another good use of "pipe insulation" is on the foward bow rail to cut down on reflective light from the spot light at night.

May be a bit hard to see in the photo but look to the bow rail.
