Bilge pump

I would hope you don't "Need" a pump "in" the cabin. The forward pump that I have (and many others) is still in cockpit as far as the water is concerned. Unless it gets over 5-6" at least, then it would go over the top of the partition wall that goes into and around the pump inside the door, but communicates with the cockpit water through a couple of open channels.

It is the pump that drains the cockpit if we are sleeping in the v-birth and it rains during the night, because the water runs to the forward end of the cockpit. YMMV.

My boat does not have the "flat floor" additions you have, so any water in the cockpit is very obvious.

Like every said just replace pump with solid state or float switch then add a solar collector and be done with it . also you could add a canvas (sunbrella) slant back canvas and not worry at all.

We keep our boat in the water 12 months a yr we use a bimini top and a 10 watt solar collector and that keeps the batteries up and running

To prevent sea water entering the bilge pump thru hull, most mechanics raise a loop of the hose directly behind it and secure it as high as possible above the level of the thru hull.
