bimini top

I wasn't able to come up with a C-Dory boat, but I did find a used 22'6" Levy boat that is about like the C-Dory---It's a little wider 8' 5". I was wondering about the Bimini tops that covers the back deck area. How costly are they? Are there very may companies that will custom make a top?

Welcome Aboard.

Search "Bimi Top" and your city..."Canvas Tops" and your city. You will find lots of places that do custom work. Take your measurments and look for a stock tops to get an idea of pricing for your boat. Depending on stainlass or alum. frames you can look for the top to cost you in the wide range of 300 to 500 dollars.

Thanks whaler--- I'll look into it. The cover that is on the boat now is the type that slants from the top to the transom area. You can't open or close the door when it is deployed, and you can't use the the back deck area at all. In looking at the invoice from when it was ordered, it cost the previous owner 1600.00. Naturally, I thought the price of a full inclosure would be out of reach price wise. I'm glad to hear they are reasonable.-------By the way... the color of my Levy is the same as your C-Dory. It was made in Nova Soctia. At first I didn't really care for the color, but now I really like it. My whole hull is blue and that is alot of blue.......I would send you pic,s but I don't know how on this site. I don't see any call-outs for photo's.

Is this the boat...

Looks like a lot of boat. Any idea how that Mercruiser will compare for fuel burn? That cockpit cover is just to keep water out when the boat isn't being used; the boat-stuff places will likely have a bimini that you can modify to give you shade while on the boat. Many of those are kinda universal.

Good luck with your new boat.

Yes it is -----I pulled a trailer for that boat all the way from Mo. to Maine to get that boat........ Steve said that at 20 mph in used around 5 gal and hour. lets hope it don't use more than that. I believe that is failey close to an average size out board. I don't like the way the cabin is layed out. I have looked at several C-Dory changes and plan on using some of them. I need more seating and storage. The Ice box is going and so is the alcohal stove. I like a Brinkman camping stove for cooking, and I need the ref. area for storage. I'm going to change the seating area to a bench style seating with a conversion of the seat into a table top. The boat came with a punch of bumpers and boat jacks. Plus several boxes of oil, anti freeze, spare parts etc. The intire back of my truck was full. The past owners were very particular about the boat. It was stored in shrinkwrap every year. ...... the boat was originally built for a very big man 300 + so the doors and hatches are very big. ....... The owners said they did all their boating on the ocean, and that they had it in 8 to 10 waves before and it did very well...
