My son belongs to a local sail co-op. They have seven 26-28 ft boats shared between 110 members. I also was apart of it before I bought my C-Dory.
For them it seems to work great! I have never seen such a co-op for power boats. Is there more issues with power boats?
At the club everyone has to go through a certain training program to use the boats and even then there are levels and certain limits on how much any one person can use the boats. But the bottom line is for $50/month we have had full access to sail training and to seven boats. The only time we have not been able to book a boat was on one long weekend.
My boat is way to "personalized" to do this but maybe if a person started with a "neutral" power boat, a club or co-op idea might work????
