Boat trim, planing and wake

Hi Gulf Coast CBGT-ers,
I've boated there for a long time and was glad to see Osprey's pictures. I'm always interested in trim, speed and planing in order to maximize fuel efficiency (is anybody not?) so I have general questions about the pictures of Falcon and Ashley Lynn. Notice the different ways in which the hulls rise above the water, and the different shapes and positions of the bow waves. I recognize some of these may be due to different speeds, but then compare the wakes. Unless the motor wake on Ashley Lynn runs out-of-frame-right (starboard :), ) she is running flatter and throwing a lot less water. I'd guess she is moving much faster, with less fuss, and with much better fuel usage. I'm also asking these questions because I have never seen a C-Dory (including my own  ) running in the water.
Any Brats (including O, F and A.L.) got comparative thoughts?

Rod,

I think that Falcon was running pretty slow.

Ashley Lynn was going considerably faster, trying to keep up with Osprey so that we could take their picture.

I think at that moment the water was pretty flat so that I didn't have my trim tabs engaged that much...maybe about two or three increments on the bennet trim tabs.....the motor was trimmed about level with the bottom of the hull. Not sure of our speed....maybe 18-20knots or so.

Hope this helps.

here is link to a lot of video of c-dorys in action. lot better to see a movie then to just look a still pictures. Hope this helps you get a idea of how these boats run.
