Boaterhome options near Campbell River?

Folks, I will be hauling my CD-22 up Vancouver Island in early September, from Duke Point to Telegraph Cove. Does anyone have suggestions on where I can pull over and get some sleep, midway through that drive?

My ferry from Tsawwassen doesn't get into Duke Point until 5:15 p.m., so I won't have a lot of hours of daylight driving. Hoping to find a spot—Walmart parking lot? Provincial rest area?—I can pull in to with a minimum of hassle.

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi Andy, Not much help here. Before Covid I spent several nights there. Going up and down the island. It was usually evident that it was a stop for the northbound ferry traffic. (I have seen a dozen of the 20 boats I had counted on the ferry when I went over, all in the same parking lot as I was.) If you go across the street to pick the black berries, know that the local black bear likes them too.

There are a few rest areas and pull over areas south of Campbell River. Walmart in Courtenay would be a bit of a pain.

The Mount Washington exit has a big gravel parking lot at the base but is a km up the road. It will be empty in Sept. Piercy Road exit in Courtney has a little gravel area a few 100 meters off the highway you could back into as well. Also the Campbell River airport might work, but I have only flown in there. Have a good trip
