Does anyone have any information on these gadgets. I use them for several things but now I want to use them for D-ring to pick up the Pudgy on to the dive platform. But I am wondering what weight they can handle. I tested them to about 75 lbs and seem to be better than that.

I went back into the archives to see how to move a picture from my album , but could not find anything that would help my weak mind. Could someone go into my album and move that picture to this spot.? It is just labeled "Boeing thing" It is in Mrs Dee's improvements.

Looks like airline track and strapping hardware. If so, it will hold far more than you'll likely need.

I've bought a bunch of the stuff from US Cargo Control for trailer tiedown use. I use the double stud components, but even the single stud shown in your picture has a breaking strength in excess of 4,000 lbs.
 
Some other clues: they don't rust, they are very light. But much stronger than aluminum. Got to be a special alloy. I would like to find more of these. Work good for fenders, hanging a lantern. Bungeeing things in place like deck chairs and tv trays.

Using them to tilt the pudgy up on the dive platform using two of them should work fine. The dink only weighs about 125 lbs. I would only use them to pull up one side ( the other side is in the platform brackets already) and snap on to the standoffs which take all weight when underway.

I would welcome all pros and cons.

How timely. A news story just came out last week saying that they will no longer be selling surplus parts at that store. It will be all handled online. I think the store will close fairly soon but I don't have the specifics.

:thup I just mounted two on the Pudgy. Used a two inch stainless fender washer as backing. Once I get the Pudgy and the Ranger to mesh, I'll post the pictures. So far it is looking good. Just waiting for the quick detach for the winch.

Looks a lot lie the wheelchair tie-downs we used on city buses and paratransit vehicles. Instead of cargo, they hold people in wheelchairs from rolling all over the the place while the bus is in motion.
 
These are used in cargo areas to hold nets and canvas tarps. Most cargo on the large jets go in containers. The rest goes in "bulk" cargo. You will find a net or tarp keeping the bulk cargo from going anywhere.
There are a lot of exotic metals in these jets. Inconel, Titanium, etc.

It is true that Boeing Surplus is closing. Bummer. The first thing to go was the free wood area behind the Everett plant. We used to be able to get wood from the crates that parts came in. Flaps from Japan came in huge crates, lots of good exotic wood. I worked with a guy that built a sizeable shop out of it. No more. :cry:

I put in 11 years there. Do not miss the job, but it was the best hardware store in the world, except Hardware Sales in Bham.
