Generator, Heat Pump, Deck Wash, Live Well, Thrusters and other hull fittings for accessories on the C-Ranger 25 bring up some questions about the best bottom treatment for a boat kept at the dock. Also, in the area where I am considering keeping my new boat there are problems with Zebra Mussels.
So, I am wondering what the pros and cons are of various bottom paints. My old boat used a Micron ablative paint that became chalky and was touched up annually without the need for alot of sanding or prior coat removal.
What type of bottom paint is that charcoal type that comes on new C-Dories? Do you have to completely remove that coating before recoating? Would Zebra Mussels get up into the heat exchangers for the Heat Pump and Generator? What coating should be done on the thruster tubes, props?
I'd appreciate any advice on this. John
