Brat Map at the top of the page

How do you get your boat added to the Brat Map at the top of the page? I have my boat in Nova Scotia Canada, I don't have a pin and I'm really sad about it.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Jim

I'm pretty sure that the google map application that Bill is using for this only knows how to place a pin when it's provided with a US Zip code. So your options are:

1) Move to the U.S.

2) Secede from Canada or

3) Remain sad and we'll all do what we can to cheer you up.

I'd go with option #3 if I were you.

Another suggestion -- For the time being, you could put your pin in Maine, with an explanation pointing North. We could ask Bill to put a note on the map that the Maritimes are found through Maine, BC through Washington, etc., etc., and the note could castigate Google for making this necessary...

Years ago Dotty and I took the ferry from Bar Harbor over to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. We then drove across to Halifax. We were greeted by the US Marine Corps Band, playing on the town square. They were there for the "Tattoo", which itself is a wonderful sight to see. Watching the various militaries perform was nice, but the Swedish women's flag drill team takes the prize. We spent a wonderful couple of weeks exploring Nova Scotia and came away with great admiration for the place and the people.

Yes, very nice place with very nice people, that is why I have a second home thier. There is no ferry now, which is shame, as I now have to drive the 14 hours straight. If you are ever in the region, drop me a note and i'll buy you a beer.

Thanks. When you are in the Seattle area it will be my pleasure to buy you lunch and a beer at the Snoqaulmie Falls Brewery and Pub.

What, the "CAT" doesn't run from Bar Harbor to NS anymore? We've got a home in Maine closer to Canada on the coast and the last time we were up there, about a year ago, it was still running...

On edit, you're spot on, here's the BAD NEWS

Nope, no Cat and No Ferry. You have to drive around or fly. I actually think the Cat was a scam. The city of Portland first condemned the ferry terminal, but then 1/2 a year later rented to the Cat. The Cat it was too expensive vs the old Ferry and left 5 pm from Portland and dropped you off in Yarmouth at around midnight. You still had a 3.5 hour drive to Halifax. I can be in Halifax driving in 8 hours by can and save big $$. The old Portland ferry left at 8pm and docked at 7:00am the next day you slept on the boat and started the new day and were in Halifax by noon. It was 1/2 the price.

That was no fast cat that we took! It was a nice old cruise ship type car and passenger ferry. If I recall correctly it was about an eight hour crossing. I do remember that it had a bow thruster and the captain docked it in Yarmouth between two large vessels without assistance.

If you WANT to go to Halifax, you're right. If you just want to tour NS (which we did in about '83) it would have been great. We took the slow boat from Portland (with a Winebago-23') and it was agonizing. Nice trip around NS and drove back. Also agonizing. A fast CAT trip would have been nice. My kids DID win $200$ in the casino on the way over though...

But I'm a proponent of fast ships!

Marty, I think that's us standing at the rail....
