After just lifting the C-Brat to replace the bunks, I question their "backbreaking labor" claim. Planning, two pair of automobile jackstands, two hydraulic jacks, four padded 1 ft sections of 2X6 and a 4X4 for the bow crossbar costs far less than $699 plus shipping. Sure it's two steps but even a geezer like me could get the trailer out.
1) remove the side guides
2) Jack up the bow, slip the 4X4 across right about where the bunks end and set the bow down on the suitably padded 4X4 sitting on a pair of jackstands high enough to clear the fenders
3) jack up the stern about 18" forward of the transom using bottle jacks and a padded board on each side.
4) move the trailer forward about 12" NOT hitting those bottle jacks. Put a pair of jackstands with padded boards behind the frame at the end of the transom adjusted close to the lifted boat. Drop the boat onto the stands by releasing bottle jack hydraulic pressure. The boat is resting on the two rear stands and the bow crossbar. Remove the bottle jacks and roll the trailer out.
Lemmesee Jackstands $90 Bottle jacks $25 (Harbor freight) 4X4 $15 2X6 $8, Home Despot, carpet padding (old bath towels could be expensive. Spouse will want replacements and dinner out to make up for not asking first) Give her one of the free Harbor Freight flashlights too.
$140 or so including a six pack and I wouldn't have been afraid to use it on the Jenny B, a C-22, for a short time anyway. The jack stands don't have enough stability if somebody shoved the side of the boat. Then again neither does the $699 version.
