Burgee/Pennant Staff Question

What are people using to mount their burgees on the bow pulpit?

I bought a West Marine pennant staff and clamp that purportedly fits 7/8" and 1" diameter tube, but the blasted thing is too small for my 1" tubing on the boat. I did measure the tube with calipers, and it is exactly 1". Thoughts?

Thanks in advance...

You could use duct tape and take a couple of wraps around the tubing ....then clamp on the tape.....sorta like a gasket...

Hi Joel, the tubing is just a tiny bit too large. Even though the clamp is supposed to fit 1" tube, it won't close all the way.

Are you coming to Powell this year?

Chucko, thanks!

Jim, that is the West Marine staff that I bought, and is too tight for the tube.

I'm thinking of mounting mine on the bow pulpit. But I have a couple of reservations. Do you think that it will impede vision when under way? Will it be in my way when I'm doing anchoring stuff? I'm often hanging over the bow looking! Could some one please confirm the eyelets are 17" apart? I have not got mine yet, I'm picking it up at Friday Harbor.

Martin.

Borrow someones copper tubing flaring tool and clamp it around the tube. It sounds like the tube is a little out of round.
