ROAD TRIP!!!!!

OK, time for another journey, another page in my C-Brat travels. Headed from Mt. Juliet, TN to Oak Harboar WA to see Les and crew @ EQ for our next "little project."

Follow our trek cross country as SENSEI (Roger Johnson) and myself travel on a new "tool".... one of the SPOT gizmos. The spot is not the project, just a new tool.

Will be fun to once again be workng with Les to build a boat with Heartland Trawlers and EQ working again on a project.

Hope to see some of you in the Oak Harbor/Stanwood WA area.

Bill & El: Hope you got the phone call... changed route and running hard while we have great travel weather. See yall in Jan if yall are signed up for our C-Brats annual gathering around the Seatle Boat Show.

That's a lot of fun tracking you with that Spot. I think the C-Brats should chip in and get one of these Spots for Jim and Joan on Wild Blue. Hope you stop for coffee in Sioux City. Enjoy your road trip.

Those spots are on sale at BOE Marine for around $60 right now. I think it's some sort of manufactures rebate probably meaning they are coming out with and upgraded model? I agree it would be fun watching Jim and Joan and others travels with one but as much as they move around they would probably wear it out.

on edit I just checked the price at BOE marine and it said $115 maybe the sail is over or you have to call to get the discount?

Pat and Roger -
Got your message and good idea to divert from the CO Rockies - tomorrow now looks bad in the high country - black ice and drifting snow. Bon voyage with your trip.

It's fun tracking your progress with Spot. Looks like you stayed at the Day Inn in Gillette last night - correct?. How long do you plan on being out this way?

Byrdman,

We are enjoying tracking your trek out to Washington; reminds me of Clark Griswold planning the vacation to Wally World on the Apple 2 using a packman route indicator.........

I noted that unlike Clark, you do not stop for anything, much less side trips to see the worlds largest ball of string in Kansas.

Keep on truckin .........

Pat and Roger.
You two on a road trip together sounds like something from the movie "Animal House", or atleast a several state toga party!
Be safe and have fun!

You also get a $50 mail in rebate so that would bring the price down to $65. Also the continous tracking is only $25 until 12/31

Upgrade will not be around until about June

I am doing a little fishing today so will have mine on also.

Us folks on the Right Coast feel prettysafe as long as they keep heading West!

OK, it appears as I sit here in Snoqualmie eating my Polish dog and ravioli soup (not much time today), Byrdman and crew are roaring through Butte, Montana!

So what's on their horizon? A new business venture with the Rosborough, or new dealership combination (adding the Toland Maurinaut to the line?), or a new boat entirely?, Etc., ect.

With the economic situation looming, it would be a good time to design something new, test it out via a prototype, and build plugs and molds, but I certainly wouldn't want to try to make a niche or create a market share in a business that's on a roller coaster decline....

We'll just have to wait and see, I guess!

Joe. :teeth :thup

Sounds like the weather is in their favor. Really warm in Montana, with the only freezing temps at Mullun Pass, but it is dry.

I really like this feature of Weather Underground to check weather conditions along a route. You can follow their I-90 route to Seattle and then north to Whidbey Island and EQ.
It's called WunderMap Very cool.

Don't want to be a Grinch but the last time we travelled that route it was 70F in Billings then snowed like heck until Spokane where it all changed to ice until we got over Snoqualmie and down into the nice warm rain. I am a bit afraid that our current storm will hit there before they get out of the mountains.

Robbi, that is a great route planning map! Thank you so much for posting that. I refer to WU frequently during hurricane season, but I've never seen that map before. That's going in my favorites list.

Best wishes,
Jim

Jim, You are welcome! It is nice to give a little something in return to two great C-Brats who give us so much.

Looks like they are over Mullan Pass, and Byrdman checks in with a "Life is Good" message. Wonder where they will stop for the night?

Can you tell it is raining and windy here? I am spending far too much time on line.

I've been having fun trying to figure out what else I could figure out from the tracking map. I could deduce the likely motel that they stayed at last night so I decided to see if I could figure out where they ate lunch. I was hoping I could find a couple of markers at the same spot but NO! Apparently Patrick brought enough pulled pork with him that they didn't need to stop for lunch. Then I decided to figure out the average rate of travel. Does Patrick have a lead foot? Well its 305 miles from Columbus Mt. to Missoula MT and it took 5 hours and mins to cover this distance. The average rate of travel along this segment was 59 MPH so we know Pat's not a speed demon. No need to issue a citizen's arrest for speeding (yet  )!
