To my friends who knew my close friend of over 60 year: C A Derivas. C A Passed on this morning. He was a master mariner. In 1973 he circumnavigated the World in 18 months, in a 32 foot boat he had built with his wife and two teen age girls. CA also raced this boat, including the Transpacific--one of the smallest boats to do that race. I have sailed over 10,000 niles as his watch captain on his 55 foot cutter. He also made over 2 more circumnavigations with this boat and his wife Bettie. Marie and I would fly to meet them in many parts of the World. Tomorrow would have been their 41st wedding anniversary C A would have been 93 years old on December 21.

CA and Bettie owned two C Dorys, a 22 and a 25 which was sold about a month ago to one of our C Brats who owns a 22. They had come to several of our March gatherings on the St. Johns River-Hontoon state park gatherings.

C A Had seved as an air traffic controller during the Korean War. He was a High School Civics and history teacher, and owned a sail loft for his second job. He made some superb sails, and had developed the first computer driven sail making program.

May C A rest in peace, and our prayers go out to his wife Bettie, and his daughter Donna (Derivas) Cook.

Sad to hear about C A, another C-Brat that was some of the first I met at Meet in the Middle and St. John's River gatherings. Folks that always made you feel welcome and I, as being one of the younger ones in the group, would look at and hope to be half that agile when I reached their age! Our prayers are with Bettie and their family. RIP C A! Colby
