For the past two months I've been tossing an idea around in my mind and here it is............
Do any of you C-Brats have an interest in participating in providing C-Dory rides for children attending the "Burned Children Recovery Foundation" Camp Phoenix that takes place 8/18 to 8/25/07?
Mind you, I'm still in the thought process of this idea, but this evening I spoke with the director of the camp and mentioned the thought with her. If we have enough interest in this it may become a possibility.
Currently, various community groups in Washington State are assisting in this program. Last year a kayaking group provided an outing for the attendees to Hope Island. It sounds as if they launched at Cornet Bay.
My thoughts are that we muster up a flotilla of volunteer C-Dorys to meet at Cornet Bay at some time during their camp week and provide rides for the attendees. (Apparently they have approx. 50 attendees).
For an insight into what the organization is all about you may go to www.burnedchildrenrecovery.org Once there click on Camp Phoenix 2006 and you can view some of the pictures taken last year.
Other participants in Camp Phoenix are the Seattle Seahawks, the Seahawk Sea Gals, Washington State Patrol, Washington State Council of Fire Fighters Burn Foundation, the U.S. Army - Ft. Lewis, Skagit Raceway, Two different Harley Owners Groups, several local fire departments, Island Outfitters (Kayaking), Meridian Yachts, a number of Rotary Clubs and assistance in travel by representatives of several airlines (Horizon Airlines, Frontier Airlines, Alaska Airlines and Angel Flight).
