C-Brat Site Outage - Server Update Coming

But if you wanted to tweak things a bit, simply edit /etc/roast/roast.conf, and finish up with an /etc/init.d/roast restart.

That seems a lot of trouble for some dead cow. Fortunately, my oven has Intel® inside and is running MS™ so if the roast isn't right I just close all the windows in the house, shut off the power and restart.

If I am cooking two roasts about 2.5 pounds each side-by-side in the oven using the time and temp chart in the Betty Crocker cookbook the 1982 girlfriend gave me, do I use what Betty lists for a single 5 pound roast, a single 2.5 pound roast, or do I have to clear the oven cache and use the stupid Linux meat thermometer?

Hmmm...can't say.

If you were using a Debian oven, it's as simple as "apt-get install roast".

Personally, I'd just take the default roast. But if you wanted to tweak things a bit, simply edit /etc/roast/roast.conf, and finish up with an /etc/init.d/roast restart.

Or, get yourself a Mac and it would turn that roast into prime rib!

Thanks for all you do here, Bill and Mike, to make this a great place to spend 10-12 hours a day. :wink

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thankyou for taking the time Bill, Irfanview was quite easy and I am now posting pictures faster than I ever have, and without the frustration.

Mike - use a meat thermometer and pull the roasts out when the internal temp gets to about 150. At that point the temp should continue to rise a bit and should hit the magic number of 160-165. Let it sit for 10-15 mins and carve. While it's sitting, open a nice Bordeaux and pour yourself a glass. If the roast is good, drink a glass with the meal. If the roast is bad, drink the whole bottle.

Steve: Tyboo sells his roast once or twice a year.

Your subscription to the C-Brat site is 24 months in arrears. Yer at the bottom of the list, bro.

Bill, I think the migration might have affected the auto-notification of new posts system. Maybe something to do with your crontab file? I am not getting notifications on a consistent basis, and this morning I did not receive any for about 10 threads that I am watching.

I'll look into it...

Any chance it could be SPAM filters on your end, either created by you, or your ISP? While emails are still being sent with c-brats.com as the sending domain, the actual server sending the emails has changed. I did take steps to ensure the new server was registered as a "good server" (SPF records were created), but given that the server sending things has changed, SPAM filters could be triggering that weren't before.

I think I found the problem...

The new mail server host name was being sent incorrectly, causing numerous email providers to refuse receipt. I've fixed things on our end, and will monitor the mail logs to see if things clear up.

Bill

Thanks, Bill, for getting us up and going again! If you ever need help from someone who knows nothing about all this, just call me anytime!

Can you paint? There's a shed out back my better half has been gently reminding me about for the last few weekends...

I have posted a lot of pictures in my album from the Apalachicola gathering. I have noticed others on this site have added pictures also and the "Recent C-Dory Photo Activity" does not appear to update in the last couple of days.
