Thanks for the kind words Joe. The jury is still out on whether she "beat" the illness but if anyone can, it would be Caryn. She is a survivor and has an incredible will to live.
She was diagnosed a little over a year ago with a very rare type of cancer, called Neuroendochrine tumors . They are very slow growing, unlike your more "typical" cancers. The tumors metastisized to her liver and to a lesser degree in other areas. This type of cancer is considered "incurable". But through inexhaustible efforts on Caryn's part, she was able to find doctors who believe that by debulking the affected areas via surgery, she could have a real chance at a normal lifespan. This action is considered aggressive and controversial. This is the path Caryn chose rather than the typical wait and see treatment, some say wait and die. Hence the two surgeries over a four month period. The first to remove 90% of her tumors in the liver and the second to remove the primary tumor in her pancreas. Lets hope that these procedures lead to a successful outcome.
Which brings us to the present. We are hoping and praying that the path she chose is the right one in prolonging her lifespan. Thanks to all of you for hour support and prayers. We look forward to seeing many of you on the water this summer!
