C-Dory arrives in New Zealand

PME -
Welcome to the gang -- sure great to have a Kiwi aboard. The c-dory should be a good fit for you, We had suggested, years ago, to the c-dory owners, that if they shipped a c-dory to NZ we would live on it there, show it off to anyone interested, and if they set up a dealer we'd display the boat for them. Unfortunately, they were thinking of selling the company then and didn't take us up on the idea.
We led natural history trips to NZ for many years for a US University -- both islands, but really loved the South Island. One trip we needed help on some botany, called a friend at the University, he sent over a Masters degree student, and he did a great job. Next year, while on his walkabout, he stopped off to visit and lived with us for nine years! He got his doctorate while with us, and is now a Vice Pres. of a US university -- he's still our 'son' and comes to visit every year when our family gets together for a week.
You live in a wonderful country -- and a great one for boating. And any time you come to US, drop a line and come by for some time in our Rockies.

So what kind of fish you going after down there? Do you bottom fish or troll or both? And the big question is are you guys going to challenge the America's cup in 16?
Hay, just curious :  :cocktail

Good to see so many connections between the 2 countries. El and Bill not only have the connection but also lived the life that so many will envy.
Jay, into both but probably do more bottom fishing than trolling. Usually troll to bottom fishing spots. Bottom fish are snapper, terakihi, gurnard, trevally, kahawai. Trolling includes albacore and skipjack tuna (used to be yellowfin but they're rare these days, all the marlin, striped, blue and black are here but I haven't chased them much before, might now! Across both types of fishing sits what you guys call yellowtail, we call kingfish. (better name for the power of this fish!)

YES, IT HAS JUST BEEN ANNOUNCED HERE THAT TEAM NZ WILL COMPETE IN THE CUP. BE AFRAID - BE VERY AFRAID.

I love the photos now in the album of C-Run. They show the boat and trailer transitioning from the shipping container to its storage space. Fascinating to view. A beautiful boat that will turn some heads. Note in the last photo of C-Run in its space are 2 boats on their trailers. They don't look familiar to me. I like seeing boats of a similar nature that are produced in other countries.

I'm glad you drew our attention to this. I had always wondered if a C-Dory would fit into a container, as the beam dimension was tight! (On paper.) I had figured it might need to go RO/RO, where there isn't the limitation of the container width. So... nifty to see and good to know!

Congrats on your new C-Dory!
