C-Dory Factory Pics

journey on

OK, everyone but me knows about these pics and has seen and commented on them, but:

I think they're great, showing the construction process of a C-25 here:

C- Dory 25 Build

Always asking for more, how about a picture of the cabin top being installed?

Boris

Scott, that is some nice work you and your team is doing! Gorgeous looking boat. Liking the teak doors a lot, are they standard? Thanks for all the effort on the site too! George

Is it possible to retrofit a 2006 Venture with port holes in the cuddy?

I don't know if Scott would do it at the factory but you sure can do it your self. I think a gentleman named Hank... I can't remember his last name, pioneered the add a port hole to a C-dory trail. He had one of the most tricked out 25ft C-dorys ever. I think he sold it last year and returned to sailing. His boat was named Sea Skipper, if my failing memory serves me correctly. I followed his lead and added mine about the same time I enlarged the V-berth opening. Its not too difficult if you can bring yourself to the point where you can actually cut a 8" hole in your boat. If you do a search you can probably find Hanks"how to directions" in one of the technical discussions.

I added port lights to Valkyrie's v-berth and have a how-to sub-album (p5) in our album on the installation. The first cut is the hardest, but at least it's not below the waterline!

Hope this helps,

Here's the old THREAD from Hank's modification. His pictures are still there if you click on Sea Skipper in one of his posts.

Happy cutting... :disgust

If you don't want to attempt this yourself, I'm pretty sure that the factory guys would do it for you for a fee. They are doing a variety of work other than just building boats. They did my gel coat repair work on the 22 I'm preparing for sale and I noticed they also offer a winterizing service (including shrink wrapping).

Dave,

Thanks for the question and yes it is possible to retrofit your boat with portlights. It is easy enough to do, just make sure that you measure both the exterior space and the interior space before purchasing a set of portlights.

Let me know if you need any further information or guidance and I will gladly offer my assistance.

Thanks All

Since I would like it done right, I will have a competent yard do it. Unfortunately. I am 3000+ miles from Bellingham.

Scott,
You are doing some excellent work. It makes me feel very secure in that the C-Dory will continue on and looks to be better quality than ever.
Keep on keeping on. Business will get better with products like this 25.
I wished it would be practical for me to bring my CD to you for a "tune-up".
Is the surface flat where the port hole is installed???

Met the dealer in Alliance NC while down at the CBGT in Oriental NC last weekend. He said he has had a few of the new factory boats and in his opinion they were the best constructed he had ever seen. He's been a dealer for quite a few years.

Good News!

Dave,

Yes you can purchase the portlights from me, however save yourself some money and buy them directly from www.fisheriessupply.com under the ventilation section. I am away from the office today but on Monday if you would like I will send you the exact model that I installed.

Let me know if that works for you and if you would like any further guidance in this issue.
